Hello! This is a thread for the Project BeamNg.rally collection of mods I have released and I am working on. PLEASE NOTE: Other versions of the Project BeamNg.rally saga will cause issues with the pace notes, as will the AiPacenotes mod, delete them if you have issues. (Other scenario mods may also cause issues, if in doubt if issues arise disable other scenario mods.) If you have any questions, concerns, bugs or feedback this is the place! MOD THREAD: https://www.beamng.com/resources/beamng-rally-usa-pack.33083/ Other mods of the collection will be added when I fix them Hello everyone, thanks for checking out my mod. I am expanding the scope of ProjectBeamNg.rally with the addition of the USA pack! Currently, this mod contains 36 rally cars and 20 stages with pace notes using the new system, all based on the real-life ARA championship. Prior mods of the series will be updated, however currently may break official and new stages Required mod for Stages: Xero Parklands Recommended mod (one config): TAZ Pack by Ryan Cookie Features of the mod: 36 unique rally cars built to a specific ruleset based on the ARA rules. PS: If you are interested in doing these stages competitively against others join the discord link below this message. (Open for stage times until Jan11 at 6 pm EST) https://discord.gg/9Euqu7UpM2 Competition is asynchronous so human interaction and a stable internet connection are not required
Hey, great stuff. I had made a rally co-driver mod a few years ago now. The AI pacenotes mod, which you are using for the pacenote layer to your stages, is way better. Still, I had made a ton of stages on vanilla maps and a few mod maps as well. We're talking about several non-overlapping 10+ km stages (which could in principle be split up, but I don't want to). Some shorter ones as well. If you want to check them out, you can install the mod and have fun. Apparently, it still works (well, sort of, some stages crap out apparently, but the notes are still in there and convertible to whatever system is in use now). It's awesome what you did with Italy, but the tarmac stages I squeezed out of it are really good. I've been considering converting my stages to the newer system and release on my own, but then I noticed that your mod is a nice container for all that's rally withing beamng. I don't like spreading effort too much, and I'd much rather release this stuff as a part of your mod. Also, a question: it seems to like your italian stages (not the competition ones) don't have pacenotes. Are you guys working on it? I've already mapped many of those corners, so it shouldn't be too hard to reuse add my own pacenotes for your stuff as well, since, well, Italy is not that big, and I've probably wrote pacenotes for, like, most of the rallyable roads in there. TLDR; I got an old mod with a bunch of stages/pacenotes in a few different maps. Would be cool if we can figure out how to reuse some of my stuff to add more content to your project. Cheers
Correct the base Rally Italia time trials have no notes, unfortunately; eventually, I will add those stages to the official notes system (what AiP became), particularly when voice support is added. There is around 300km of stage for Rally Italia and I don't want to remake all of it just to break with the next update, but it will be redone eventually, likely the next time I do a competition on that map. I would be very interested in checking out the stages you have made, but it is unlikely I will fully commit to a non-vanilla pace notes system as the official system is my main focus, and as a bonus it will be updated eventually to have voice support and I would like to be prepared for that as much as I humanly can be.
Sorry I explained myself poorly. My intention is to port my stages to the vanilla system. You can install my mod and play through my rallies just to see what the stages are and assess the quality of the pacenotes, but, again, I want to convert them to the current vanilla system. If you do do, keep in mind that the mod is old, you'll see a couple no-meshes and possibly a couple of bugs, who knows. I saw a youtube video from a month ago that used my mod, so it shouldn't be too bad. You can also just open the jpegs in the levels/quickrace folder of my mod. They will tell you which rallies I've done, how long, and their shape (not very informative since I hadnt bothered to overlap it with the map, but still...). Just have a look: https://github.com/lellolillili/rallymodemod/tree/main/levels Now the problem is that the current vanilla system is going to get expanded a lot (but definitely not overhauled, as far as I understand), so future compatibility could be an issue, as you noted. I'll refer to the current vanilla co-driver system it as the no-audio system. However, I think that it is likely (@dirtwheel correct me if I'm wrong) that pacenotes written with the no-audio system will start talking once the devs add the voiced co-driver, so I think that starting to add pacenotes to stages (or make new stages with pacenotes, or porting mine, or whatever) sooner rather than later would not be a waste of time. It is also possible that sections of my pacenotes could be reused to add pacenotes to yours, so I think that converting my stages might expedite things a bit on your end too, since you could use them. But maybe not, I'm not sure, I'd have to start to see what's the extent of the overlap. So, as I said, I'll probably convert my rallies to the new system, and the co-driver will probably start speaking once the devs implement the voices. Either out of the box, or without too much effort, but that's my own speculation and I'm curious what @dirtwheel thinks. I think it would make sense to release within your mod, but I can also just release as a standalone rally pack, but that would be kind of annoying for the players.
Oh this looks like exactly the kind of stuff I’m looking for! But the link in the OP is broken ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
My apologies, I mistakenly thought the mod was already approved. Updating the original post with the ZIP file for the mod now --- Post updated --- I'll have a look at your stages sometime this week. For file size reasons I have been and will be releasing each rally mod I make individually so separation isn't a big issue, particularly since the rally mods with custom maps I have made for them are their own mods, such as the 1986 Rally Italia where I took a good 75% of the base game Italy narrow paved roads and converted them to dirt and turned back the clock in terms of barriers. Which requires I include basically the entire Italy map as a file. The current plan for mods from myself are: - Rally CORE pack (Has all of the default parts, assets, and other things the rest of the mods need) - Rally USA pack: ARA-based cars with a BUNCH of stages on default maps and my own modded maps based in the USA ofc, the plan is to eventually have a full 20+ stage rally in all Vanilla locations (Some events will be across maps like the original ECUSA Forest Rally in ECUSA and Hirochi Raceway). (Currently, the only mod that is updated with the new notes and is attached at the top of the forum) - 1986 Rally Italia: 28 stages and a bunch of cars currently done; but with the old modded pacenote system from Dirtwheel, not the new shiny official one he has made - 1992 Rally Utah: Similar to rally italia but with Group A instead of B and a custom 90s Utah map. ------------------------------- - - The ones below may be included in the CORE mod as they do not require a custom map or have a ton of stages taking up file space. - Automation Rally Festival: Based on rally Monza with some historic rally cars - BRC Italy: The most far-off addition, a modern WRC-type event on paved stages in Italy. ----------------------- TLDR: I am potentially interested in including your stages in one of the "Project BeamNg.rally" mods I just have no idea where they may fit in with the grand scheme of my plans.
I can see my vanilla map rallies fit within the CORE package then. I'll think about what to do with the mod map rallies at a later stage. Probably make a separate mod, and see how the whole thing evolves.
I am attempting to set a time in EVERY config on (for now) Stage 1 on the Italy. I have already set well over 200+ times but with the recent Steam Recording feature, have decided to upload them to youtube. BeamWRC Uploads are daily with one config a day. Fastest time thus far (no footage) is 02:15.727 in the ETK 800 Series Rennspecht 8R Average time thus far is 02:49.517 Slowest time thus far (no footage) is 07:17.593 in the Old Cannon 19 DNFs due to either being to big to fit through the final alleyway or too low ground clearance to get of the beach
What an absolutely insane undertaking to attempt. I wish you well in your endeavors, very interested to see what vehicle will be the fastest overall
This is one of, if not the most insane and inspiring thing anyone has done with any of my mods. Thank you, this is awesome to look at.
Why thank you! I created a spreadsheet a while back with the details of EVERY vehicle config in the base game. Made sense to add an extra column for Stage 1 times.
