I will speak how I want, so hold the condescending stuck-up attitude if you please. I have been around this awful community for a lot longer than I've had this account.

The D series, Roamer and H series had the same issue the Grand Marshal did: the frame and body were one piece. They were overhauled from the ground up in both artwork and jbeam, over a multiple updates which involved correcting that, separating the front radiator support from the cab (aside from the H series) and a shitload of additional content that built on the oppertunities such modular vehicles provide.

The grand marshal still needs the rest of its "ground up overhaul". It got the basic mechanical issues fixed, but has recieved little to no attention since. The changes to the model were very "kitbashed", cutting up meshes and mapping new geometry onto old textures just to make it work. Its halfway finished, and far behind the SBR in every way. They'll get to it eventually, I assume.

The SBR *objectively* does not have any of these shortcomings that lead to other cars being remade. I think I'll keep using that word how I see fit, regardless of if you *subjectively* think I'm wrong.

I'd also like to point out that this was many years ago now. The devs stated around the time of the Bolide controversy that this wasnt how they would be doing remasters going forward. They are representative of an old, less pre-planned way of doing things.

The BX and LeGran havent been remade from the ground up at all. Theyre still largely the same as they were before, but nicer and with more content.

Speculation to me is along the lines of "I think they might be going to do xyz". Not "I think they should do xyz because its garbage"

I think the SBR-4 more so the EV Versions are LOTS of fun. And i really enjoy them. more so its a 4 seater. I like 4 seater cars more then 2 seaters ( im odd )

I think its sleek and sporty.

While the grill on the ICE version is strange i do like it
    :)

Side note. I hope gabe is ok. :) he made some awseome cars for beam. and the new devs are to :)

And you keep throwing invectives to strengthen your point. You sure know about being condescending calling a community „insatiable kids”.

BX may not have been remade from ground up. Doesn’t matter from my point of view since it looks and drives night and day better than before. Whenever it was achieved by adjustments or clean sheet work makes no difference to me. This sort of treatment carried out to that extent would be enough when it comes sbr4 which also happens to be quite one-dimensional dynamically. When it comes to assessment of visuals clearly I’m not alone. It’s not that it is ugly. Ugly cars have each place, even my beloved mk2 pessima isn’t the prettiest thing. The issue is imo it just doesn’t look like anything that could exist in real life. So kind of a similar argument to your technical elaboration which at the end of the day is still very much subjective.

Similarly they didn’t need to design a brand new interior for the t-series yet they found it fitting. I’m sure throwing in some toggles to a readjusted mesh would be serviceable and just enough for most. Yet they gave us a completely new one which I’m very appreciative of.

Finally there are pieces of media that could be assessed purely subjectively yet people don’t jump at each other’s throats if they don’t share an opinion. It’s called being civil. After all it’s an entertainment product. Who wants to be verbally assaulted over that?

Also speculation can be based on pointing some potential improvements. Even if you don’t agree with that approach it doesn’t grant you the right to be offensive.

I think there is no point in entertaining each other any further with this conversation.

Am I wrong about them being insatiable? every update, every teaser for years upon years this thread, reddit, youtube, discord is swamped with people whining they didnt get what THEY wanted, that the devs focused on something they didnt want. Even the vaugely positive comments often preface a big fat "but....". Nothing ever satisfies this community. Is it condescending to point that out? Dont pretend that it doesnt happen.

"Doesnt matter from my point of view"? So you admit that the SBR could just get similarly fettled and you'd be happy? far cry from the "ground up overhaul" you previously demanded.

The only reason people dont think the SBR looks like it would be made in real life is because the devs dared to make something original and different. Show someone a BMW I8 in a video game context, before it was unveiled, and they'd probably think similar things.
The devs cant win can they? Make something unique and original, people decry it as unrealistic, too unusual, would never exist irl. Make something close to a real car (the BX for example) and people moan about it just being a copy+paste of an S13 (which they have).

Don't get all sniffy about *me* being uncivil or offensive when you started off with a reply so dripping in snotnosed condscension I could taste it in the air. I asked you what you thought the SBR needed for its "ground up overhaul", you made the concious decision to get your nutsack in a twist about my generalized statements on how this community constantly whines about every single piece of content they get. You want civility? Maybe practise what your preach.

Not feeding into antics again, let’s focus on the matter then.

Yes, I think the similar amount and type of work that was put into bx would be enough to elevate the sbr4 to a satisfactory degree. Mind you most the interior and some of the details in bx are barely recognisable or brand new (like mirrors). I gather that according to you those changes were unjustified because they didn’t improve the thing *objectively*. Ok.

Maybe „ground up overhaul” wasn’t ideal terminology. What I was trying to say is that ideally I’d like it to be considerably different no matter the approach. After all they may achieve the same result. What is not sufficient is my mind is a slight touchup as with modern etk. I guess it was referred to as “refresh” to use a correct word.

I don’t think the comparison to i8 is spot on because despite it’s overall weirdness it is consistent and cohesive. SBR is a hodgepodge of few different things including lexus lfa, r35 gtr with some traits of 9x7 generation porsches and c5 corvette on the inside. All of that unfortunately curiously proportioned. Not sure about originality then. Scintilla for example is truly stunning and original.

(Disclaimer: at this point I’m strictly defending my opinion. Shitting on this timely sbr4 for two pages wasn’t my original plan. I expressed what I thought and was ready to move on if I had been given a chance to).

It's only been a day after the teaser was published and now I see people complaining about not having a Pessima Mk1 and SBR4 refresh already? I swear the BeamNG community complains about everything.

Anyway, I'm happy to see that the Mk1 Pessima and SBR4 will have new parts, even if they aren't remasters per sé. I bet we'll get a refresh for both cars in 0.34 and/or 0.35.

In what way is the SBR's weirdness "not cohesive"?
IMO, The body design has similar surfacing throughout, if you look past just the unconventionality of the proportions, it's reasonably well laid out, and being rear-engined is the same level of "just weird enough" as the shooting brake body style.

If you took the design brief of "what if the subaru BRZ was rear engined like a porsche", you'd soon end up with something pretty similar. throw in "with a shooting brake roof" and you'd be 90% of the way there in most cases.

The pigeon's also a weird design brief, "what if the Reliant Rialto was a Kei Truck" but it also ends up surprisingly coherent.

Sure theyre nice and greatly appreciated updates etc, the BX's new interior. But they werent strictly required, the old one with a little spiffing up would have been perfectly servicable. I would assume the devs simply took the oppertunity to go beyond "serviceable" because they wanted to. I similarly think the SBR is plenty serviceable, and only really needs a few new textures.

Fair enough. However I disagree that it needs as much "redoing" as you think it does. In fact I think the ETK "refresh" treatment is exactly what it needs, because as it stands right now its a great car.

I disagree on the SBR's lack of cohesiveness. Its proportions are sutiable for a mid engine shooting brake, its body lines come together nicely and align with one another well, and its design language is a good match to the Sunburst, another Hirochi car. Its just not very similar to anything In reality, and people seem to struggle with that.

Perhaps the Tesla Cybertruck would have been a better example than the I8. Imagine someone trying to convince you *that* was a realistic design you would see in real life if the only place you'd seen it was a video game.

BeamNG's designs are meant to be authentic. I think the SBR is exactly that, even if some people dont like it. So to suggest that it needs completely reworking in terms of styling would be a bit silly.

And nobody is forcing you to continue this conversation either. If you're ready to move on, move on. Leave me yelling into the void.

The exterior graphics would probably go along decently with each other if it wasn’t for akward spacing. Having said that there is a certain dissonance between the smoothness of the front end or rear fender and harshness of the side vents or angularity of the roofline. Imo I’m not sure calling it a shooting brake is quite of an excuse for that especially without practical benefits normally associated with this body style.
Then as you mentioned there are the proportions. The less said the better. I feel like front overhang is most notable example. It looks like it was shortened in photoshop by at least 3-4 inches.

When it comes to cohesion argument I was mostly talking about interior. The top part of the dash is mid-90s GM, bottom half mid-00s german car, gauges are borrowed from R35 GTR, and the steering wheel from battery powered toy-car. I think this area could ideally use a brand new design.
    --- Post updated ---
Yeah, I agree pre-remaster bx was pretty solid looks wise. Mostly needed some detail. It’s that much more impressive and surprising that they revised almost every surface. Those small tweaks don’t go unnoticed though as they added up to much more than the sum of their parts. On the other hand you have a diana variant which is wildly different than us-spec coupe. I believe only doors, windscreen and rear bumper (?) remained the same. Incredible.
It also went from my least favourite car to drive to my most favourite.

Also rather amusingly cybertuck turned out not to be a 100% realistic design as there are several reoccurring deficiencies connected to its stainless steel cladding. I believe it is the only brand in the world to stuck to its vision so faithfully against better judgment.

But yeah, it has to be said it saw the light of the day.

most based takes ive ever seen. couldnt have said it better myself

at this point the pessima doesnt really need much to be "remastered"
it has new lights, the interior got higher quality pbr textures, and now we are getting more bodykits. they most likely at some point will use the covet engines on it since it makes sense (as much as i personally dislike the engine model its fine) which just leaves remodeling the suspension along with new body textures and tweaks

I appreciate the devs I don’t think a single person on the forums is childish enough to complain about what they want and what not. There’s a discord and an Instagram comment section for that…

I don’t blame them, about the SBR. We’ve had teasers of remade/remastered powertrain for that car for over a year now.

no, there's a reddit sub for that.

almost half the posts there recently have gone along the lines of "we need a [car basically already in-game/machine so complex that it would cause permanent damage to a performance pc] except it should be ibishu or gavril or chesterberg which is a brand i made up during geography class in middle school"

i swear to god every user there is hardly trying or close to dying. or both.

The last thing devs need to do is to read and take into consideration this kind of opinions.
I 100% agree with who said this community is depressing.
Just a reminder for the devs that there is (I hope) a huge percentage of silent customers who are fully pleased with every step BeamNG takes. We love every new feature, small or big, cars and maps design, early or late. We know quality content takes time and we trust your vision as we are convinced the team is passionate and competent, more competent than any loud self improvised car design expert spending their life obsessing over subjective nonsense about fictional vehicles on a videogame forum.

The SBR4 has GTR levels of performance. I doubt they can justify that design brief anymore, especially if they're giving it a refresh or whatever in the future, and I hope they give it the identity it deserves by spicing up the car. When I think of the SBR4 I honestly think of a Porsche 911 and a GT-R (engineering and luxury of a Porsche with the usability and casual-ness[?] of a GTR), and I think those would be much more appropriate design and lore influences than a BRZ and a Porsche, although that sounds pretty cool :)

That seems like a bizarre concept though. I believe an SBR4 predecessor or concept car would cement the idea that the SBR4 was something that actual people would've wanted from Hirochi, and that the positive reception was enough for them to invest money into producing the SBR4 AND THEN making an EV trim, both of which must be something that people would've actually wanted.

I believe people not liking the SBR4's design is because the car really seems like it came out of nowhere and is just an idea Hirochi had one year that was just magically successful. That's how I feel anyways.

P.s. i love the sbr4 :> thank u devs for this amazing car that i can just stare at for hours admiring it. I trust that u guys will do this car justice whether it'll receive a refresh, remaster or simply a few quality changes. <3
