When you are creating a PathNode, if you hover over the "New", it will show how to add a new (I believe this you have already figured out, but it is here as reference for others who may not yet know) Then, can you see my PathNodes 87 and 89 below? When you go to the "Segments" and click on "Create", it will look like this (Segment 42!): The error is because I haven't specified which Pathnode to start from and which to end. So you chose the PathNodes you want. Look at my example below. It just created a straight line between the nodes. The AI will find the best way to traverse between the nodes. The AI will probably chose the track, but it may make many mistakes, so you select the "Capsules" inside the Mode option. When you add a new Capsule, it will be positioned right in the mid-point of your Segment. So you use the Move Tool (shortcut - key 1) , you can position it in the track you want. You can adjust the size by using the Scale tool (shortcut - key 3). And rinse and repeat until you have the desired track.
Today I managed to create the 1st race. While I'm still editing it, I felt like sharing a quiz with you regarding an event that happened in the race. Here's the video: Enjoy!
Hello Everybody! I'd like to announce that the Race for the Group 3 has been uploaded and now is available on YT and at the 1st post of this thread. The first race at the Big Ring will take place at 8am on a dry and hot summer day. Eight of our competitors who managed to qualify to the Group 3 will face each other to discover who's the fastest. What will happen in this event? Are we going to see a repetition of a crash from Juliana Fraga? Or will someone else crash? Well, we already know from a previous video I shared. Do you know his name? For convenience, I'm also posting the link here: I hope you enjoy as much as I enjoyed making it.
Hello my fellow Peregrini! I'd like to announce that the Race for the Group 2 at the Big Ring has been uploaded and now is available on YT and at the 1st post of this thread. The 2nd race at the Big Ring will start at 13:00 (01:00 pm) still on a dry and hot summer day. 7 of our competitors who managed to qualify to the Group 2 will face each other to discover who's the fastest. Ah!!! I almost forgot. This time I decided to add some chiptune music to keep things a bit more enthusiastic. I'm still learning my way through this music thing and collecting enough courage to narrate the races. For convenience, I'm also posting the link here: --- Post updated --- Ooops!!! I also forgot to tell that we had a After Race Party for the Automation Track. It is a Disco & House, Groovy set, for those who appreciate this genre of music. Enjoy!! For convenience, here is the link (it is also available at the 1st post on this thread):
I couldn't believe my eyes when I saw that lol. I even allowed him to try to leave for a few minutes (just a bit before Jolanta would pass him again). The AI couldn't figure how to get out of that on its own. I shut him down to save processing memory
Hi my Peregrini friends!! I'm running late with the group 1 race. It was supposed to be a race at night, but the Replay file is crashing the game when I try to edit the camera path. I'll probably have to create a new race This will take slightly longer than anticipated. Apologies!
Hello my Peregrini friends!!!! I've finally finished editing the last race for the Big Ring Circuit. The game was crashing constantly until I found out what the issue was, then it was smooth. Due to the issues and the plenty of time I had to consider what was going on, I decided to redraw (using AI) all the photos of my drivers as previously they were kind of ugly and I didn't want to use. This time was different. So, from this episode onwards, we will meet our drivers, see their faces. Just in case you feel curious, I'm also writing their background stories (also with help from AI). I won't spoil what happened, but many things happened AT THE SAME TIME, so I had to do what I could to capture all of these events and present them. I also almost narrated the race because it felt impossible without someone telling what is happening, but then It would have taken longer due to audio recording and well, I'm still feeling uncertain about my capabilities, but I'm storing courage to do a narration in a future video. PS: I still think that AI voices are horrible for this type of content, so I'll either wait until they get even better or use my own. Back to our race... This is the first night race, and probably the last. Let me know if you like it, because it was VERY hard to edit, although, I pretty much liked the race much more due to what happened I'm not sure what caused it on a technical matter, so for the lore I'll go with it. In this race, which is taken at 18:00 (6pm) local time, probably due to the darkness of the circuit, many drivers had issues, as this was so far the craziest race we will ever see. Cheer for your favorite racer, now with their photos in the intro stage, and let me know your expectations BEFORE the race starts, for the thrill of the game. I hope you enjoy as much as I enjoyed making the race and the video. As always, for convenience, the video is below. But I'll also add to the first post in this thread.
Wow, really cool video! Also i noticed the lag in the video, did you try lowering the graphics to make it a bit smoother?
I noticed the lag only when I uploaded the video. Probably something with my graphic card as I was trying to use those upscale graphics stuff from Nvidia. It worked when creating the Replays inside Beamng and it seems it didn't when recording it. I'll reduce the details to make it smoothie
I little teaser of the next race. It will be taken in Belasco City. But where is this place? Yeah, I learned how to edit the map with assets and lua triggers. And I also spent the entire week improving the ai code specifically for my races. Can't wait to see how they'll behave now. Quali is underway now!!
are you cooking a whole raceway in Belasco?????? Oh my god, this looks so great! As i think: race is gonna go through suburbs, right?
Ari!! I'm amazed how you know BeamNG really well. I was thinking that the props would make it look a bit harder to identify Newbie I am. But no, the race won't go through the suburbs. I don't want to bother the people living there. I'm indeed making a new track, because using the ones already made kind of require me to update some details and it takes longer than generating a new one. So, the circuit will go up the woods and down to the highway. I simply called it Redwood By the way, this time I'm using one of your early suggestions. I'm giving a "boost" to all the drivers which have not finished their races. As I'm not feeling quite confident in making a video only about that due to lack of my own creativity. I'm still growing in that sense. So below is the list of the updates, only cosmetic: Zacharias Galanoglou Front bumper - xcSport Rear bumper - Sport Donatella Vitello Front bumper - Sport Rear bumper - Sport Chimbai Dargan Front bumper - xcSport Rear bumper - Sport Poliana Vaz Front bumper - xcSport Rear bumper - Sport Shane Grehan Front bumper - Sport Rear bumper - Sport Arthur Walker Hood - Lightweight Race Hood Rear bumper - Lightweight Race Bumper Reinaldo Cabral Hood - Lightweight Race Hood Rear bumper - Lightweight Race Bumper Ayotunde Pamilekunayo Front bumper - Sport Rear bumper - Sport
i think lightweight hoods can help a bit though. Now waiting for a special race with (Peregrinus character) vs Ari Sorrentino (me) in ETK 800-Series Heritage Edition cars lol Also, do you have Discord?
I hope the hoods help too. I didn't give the hoods for the others as well because I thought giving the bumpers would be great, however the ETK kc4 doesn't change the front bumper. And I had already finished creating the .pc files for the others, so I just gave the hood to sum up to 2 pieces of equipment to each. Regarding the race, it won't happen because I really don't know how to drive. Tried a bit but always crash the car (keyboard player). Even when I tried the mouse, didn't go well. PM me here and I'll give you my discord. I'm on the BeamNG discord channel too, but don't interact there much
Quick update for those who enjoy this series. I've hit a roadblock with the AI in the game. For the current track I'm working on, the AI is simply driving in a queue-like fashion and somehow overindulging itself in the `avoidCars` parameters, hence, not even a single attempt of overcoming is being made. It could be the track layout or the AI itself. So I'll spend a bit more time trying to hash this out. I hope you understand my frustrations and henceforth, the delay in the series. PS: The qualifiers is ready, but as I'll have to rework the race, I'll probably have to redo the qualifiers :/ Any ideas of a spinoff while some competitors are still resting in the hospital? i.e. Shane with his broken arm, Ayotunde after drowning and the shame that Arthur had to pass by getting stuck? PS: The next race will be taken in the West Coast, near the city of Belasco, place where all are currently resting.
Hello my Peregrini Friends!!!! I have made a few advances with the AI in the game.... now they are behaving how I wanted. So I released a video of them "behaving" better. It is in a very crude form, low image quality, with the Debug on it causing lag and literally no editing. It has no relevance to the championship other than they are "clever" now, and a bit more "aggressive" I hope you enjoy, because I'm full of joy after feeling I've advanced on this matter. A bit of trivia for those who enjoy the series... Can you guess the drivers? Now, back to making the races I go.....
How'd you manage to have more than 5 racers just asking? As i've wanted to add more cars to the scenario I'm creating myself but the flowgraph template limited to only 5 cars as far as i know
I didn't create a scenario, so I'm bound by my computer performance as I add them manually, either via the Vehicle menu or through the console using the Spawn Vehicle command. I've learned about the flowgraph while reading game's documentation just recently, but haven't used it yet.
