MY FIRST EVER MAP MOD Gilbert State is a fictionary area somewhere in the USA. Gilbert State used to be a place where families would settle down and live happily. However, in the recent years, due to the new town mayor, the entire place has gone into a massive economical breakdown. Many stores, businesses have gone bankrupt, and alot people have left the place. Gotta say, this is a mighty nice map! I see there's some low-poly car models around it, spotted the Toyota Yaris shortly after spawning. Gives the map a little extra to it, which is pretty cool.
Thank you! Yeah i decided to add those low poly "prop" cars around the map, so even without traffic spawned, they give the map a bit more life.
Also, I noticed there's some buildings floating up in the air over the bottom right corner of the map. Are those intended to be placed somewhere in the future, or is that a bug?
--- Post updated --- The buildings are going to be placed in parts of the map, the files just messed up a little bit. These will be fixed in the next update so dont worry bout that.
Would be nice to have it on the repo, we'll be able to automatically have the updates without returning on the thread, redownload it, removing the old one, clearing the cache, and put the new one. Also I hope you will fix these pixelated textures transitions in the last two pictures, it's quite ugly.
Amazing! Once this map is a little more polished, it will easily be one of my favorites. But please consider removing those licensed car props. Not only can they be extremely immersion-breaking, they will most likely prevent the map from being posted on the repo. For now I just go into the world editor to remove those and the floating buildings, easily making it a 5/5 map. Good work! EDIT: Reworded to sound less demanding, this really is a stellar map. (also I figured out that I could save my world editor changes so it's not as big of an issue.)
The point about them preventing the map to be on repo is 100% correct. But why is it immersion breaking? I'd argue there's more immersion when you see familiar real cars that roam the streets irl and not some funny cartoonish low poly noname branded choppy goofy models.
I realize now that 'immersion' may not be the right word to use, as it can mean different things to different people. For me, the point is consistency. All the default cars and most high-quality mod cars are fictional brands, and I just don't like seeing a Toyota next to an Ibishu. It's the same reason I don't use Maxxie's Crown Vic, even though it's one of the better mods out there. I even manually rebadged a Supra as a Hirochi Jezza for my own personal use. XD But I also realize that different people have different views. My point was just that it's a thing that not everyone wants, is very easy to remove, and would clear up repo issues down the road.
