Hello, what is the maximum file size to upload for the repository? I tried my map with 1.2GB but it was declined due to "filesize too large". However, there are multiple maps and mods with sizes far larger than 1.2gigs. I´ve seen some over 3 gigs.. How come?
I think it’s 488.3 MB or a number close to that. These maps are allowed because the creators of them spoke with the moderators and they allowed it to be published. Maybe try doing that?
Ah I see. Ok I have no idea how to shrink the map even further, I don´t think that is going to be possible so asking the devs is probably it ...
Make sure you don't have any unused assets in your map. To check this, do the following: Enter the level editor Press "Window" (All the way at the top) Press "Resources Checker" (At the bottom) From there, you can view all the unused assets, whether that's materials, meshes, or textures. You might also want to lower the quality of some things, if you have a 4k texture for a lightpole for example, you should definitely lower that. Textures and models are the biggest cause for large filesize, so just make sure to be careful with your assets.
The greatest map-making tool of all time https://github.com/alexkleinwaechter/BeamNG_LevelCleanUp Hopefully, this helps out my friend, very awesome tool by Alexklienwaechter This tool has saved my booty many a time (Also I am 99% sure the max file size for the repo is 500MB)
are there any exceptions that can be made for this? I am working on a map I want to share right now and doing what I can to shrink it, but I am running out of options without deleting a lot of objects off it. I could point stuff to east coast USA to save some space, but if possible Id like to avoid using stuff off other maps to make sure texutres/objects/etc.... dont break as stuff changes over time.
You can still send the mapfile to one of the moderators and they can manually upload it, even if the file is larger than the 400smth mb limit.
