Re: General discussion chat Indeed, When I lived on a farm I'd have to get up at 2:00am to get a fox out of the chook pen, I only had a 22. Hornet or a .308 I always grabbed the .22 because it was light and easy to shoot whilst half asleep. I rarely ever got to shoot that fox because when your half asleep trying to load the gun and shoot at a moving target it is not easy, My grandfather on the other hand, Sometimes I'd be woken up by the sound of the 12 gauge shotgun going off, He always hit that fox.
Re: General discussion chat I saw that bowling simulator a long time ago and another good reason for shotguns as home defense: they dont overpenetrate. A lot of rifle calibers will go through the guy youre aiming at, through the wall behind him, through the outer wall and into your neighbors house. Shotgun loads will either stop in the dude, or in the first wall (unless its a slug. that thing aint never stoppin.)

Have you never once thought to think before posting? Doubt it. - - - Updated - - - Plasterboard at non perpendicular angles is pretty damn effective at stopping a .223 weirdly. Definitely a shotgun for home defenseman rather than a rifle still. Spread a little lead down the corridor. Not that spread on a shotgun is as massive as people seem to imagine, but its there and its certainly going to be useful when you are half asleep.
