0.30 Discussion Thread

    I just installed both stages to a D25 extended cab dually diesel V8 and I didn't have any problems. Is this something that happened as a result of 30.5? Because I have 30.4 and I'm not going to update anymore if I can help it. Gonna play offline until the dust settles.

    I love this game, but even after ten years there are no tire tracks in the dirt. I'm just wondering why?

    1.Need to say about Front Guard of Aurata, it shakes a lot when there was small front collision (with wall), maybe it collides with front fascia (sorry can't attach a video file).
    2.Also - when front collision happens without front guard - hood catapults out so high and fast (is it works as planned?)
    3.And finally - tearing off plastic panels of Aurata leading to maybe too much of "plastic particles" falling out, sometimes out of empty space (where plastic part was). It happens also with point 1.

    Has double checked all release notes, maybe issue was fixed, but, not, in 0.30.5 it is still issue.

    It's probably worth mentioning that as long as the default map app is loaded, it floods the debug console with endless copies of the set of errors above, even while the game is paused.

    Not sure how much of it has to do with settings, because when I first updated to 0.30, I had an issue where until I reset my controller binds, starting the game with a controller would result in the orbit camera pitching up (and chase cam being locked to almost a bird's-eye view) whenever I had a menu open.

    At some point in 2021, with the 0.23 Update, DCTs actually got the creep function in BeamNG. All DCTs in the game exhibited this behavior back then but I specifically remember the Diesel 7-Speed DCT of the FCVs showing this the best. And with the 0.24, this feature was gone again. I'd love it to return, especially for the Diesel DCTs, where torque is shown down low, so it can be helpful in low-speed situations like in-town commuting, congestions and parking maneuvers. But ok, not all DCTs have the creep function IRL, so I don't think all BeamNG DCTs should have it either.
    But one thing is for sure: a separate "Launch Control" mode should be introduced in the code of all DCTs, so the wheels don't spin when launching is ended but the car stays still. They have attempted to resolve this problem by fiddling with the twin clutch grabbing/releasing points, but the end result was that the car had some difficulty accelerating until a certain (low) speed was achieved.

    i have had a bug with the sound where the engine is over most other sounds (impacts and tire squealing) it comes and goes as i play

    I would assume that creep in real life is a market based thing: I could image quite a few DCT having creep in America, as most american drivers are used to that. Meanwhile I would think that many european drivers are not used to that and in fact dont want it, because creeping by clutch, is a safe way to significantly shorten its lifetime. And you dont want that, especially not as a used car buyer because a clutch needing replacement in a DCT may economically total the car.

    Of course, with the ICE being unable to speed down below idle, you always will have to allow some creeping movement (movement slower than the first or reverse gear actual speed at idle engine RPM) but that should be reserved for those reverse parking maneuvers and similar low speed maneuvers where you cant do without some creep.

    EVs sometimes come with creep to fit market expectations which I personally find dubious, because an electric motor can speed down pretty much to zero without issues, but at least that is just software and wont cause any wear.

    Where can I see the notes for the hotfixes? I saw them post notes for first two, but they seem to have released at least like 3 since then without any word on what they did.

    Both terrain deformation and dynamic dirt are incredibly complicated, if simulated properly and not just pre-baked like many games do. I'm 100% sure the devs would love to add both and probably have working prototypes, but it's even more stuff that has to be calculated in real time and the game is already taxing. So it probably comes down to technological advances and optimization.

    That's very interesting actually, didn't know the creep function puts wear on the DCTs (but, on the other hand, friction is needed for the mechanical parts so as to get the car going). That's gonna be really useful when BeamNG starts simulating automatic transmission damage and wear.
    Plus, when this happens, simulating the transmission oil is also a prerequisite. Not to mention that when it comes to DCTs, dry and wet types are available, with the wet type DCTs being, naturally, more reliable.

    Proper non-cosmetic terrain deformation would also mean a lot of time spent reworking the maps to support it.

    FFB doesnt work when using the vulkan launcher for VR, ive got a thrustmaster t500rs, all are detected fine its just FFB doesnt work where it usually would when not in vulkan mode.

    Yes I do. Btw I actually did get the latest hotfix because I connected to Steam last night for another reason and it auto patched BeamNG. Which is fine because it seems to have fixed a lot of issues that I was concerned about. Spawned traffic on Spearleaf Island now follow the traffic rules. And the framerate doesn't drop so much.

    Why? Did the latest hotfixes break realistic or arcade gearbox? I haven't noticed any issues with the arcade model...other than the known issues that is.

    Ever since 0.27 the starter didn't work on it. It doesn't work when you put it on realistic gearbox mode.
