Even after a few years I don't have enough progress to make a thread, life is way too busy for regular updates and consistent time to work on it.

Do you have any idea, when you can release the DC-3?

If he doesn’t have enough progress for a thread, then he definitely doesn’t have an idea when it could finish.

At the current rate of progress, most likely sometime between 2030 and 2045 lol

Asking someone to make a mod will sadly not work most of the time, as people have their own projects and won’t really want to just do what you want them to. Maybe if you gave them money, but it feels much more encouraging to make your own idea. Maybe you could try making a plane mod someday? I have no clue how hard it is though :p

Naaa, what we really need is a Robinson R44. Superior form of aircraft (Gotta make sure we can cut off the tail boom during a low-g pushover).

While the idea of an airliner plane mod in a game like BeamNG.drive may sound intriguing, there are several practical and technical reasons why this may not be a feasible or desirable addition:

    1. Game Engine Limitations: BeamNG.drive is primarily designed as a soft-body physics simulator for ground vehicles. Introducing aircraft, especially large airliners, would require significant modifications to the game engine to handle the unique physics and flight dynamics of airplanes. This could be a massive undertaking for modders and may lead to performance issues and glitches.

    2. Map Size and Complexity: Airliners typically require vast open spaces for takeoff and landing, as well as complex flight dynamics and navigation systems. Modding such features into the game would demand extensive changes to the existing maps and infrastructure, which could be technically challenging and time-consuming.

    3. Player Base: BeamNG.drive has a niche player base interested in vehicular simulation and crash physics. Adding airliners may not align with the interests of the majority of players.

    4. Performance Impact: Airliners are significantly larger and more complex than typical vehicles in BeamNG.drive. Introducing such large models could negatively impact game performance on many players' computers, limiting the accessibility of the game. Only very few people could play it. If you make a less complex model, it does not serve its roll as an airliner.

    5. Modding Effort: Creating a high-quality airliner mod for BeamNG.drive would be an enormous undertaking. It would require extensive 3D modeling, texturing, and coding work, which may not be feasible for most modders or small modding teams, resulting in a paid mod or a yearlong process with almost nothing else coming from those people.

    6. Alternative Flight Simulators: There are specialized flight simulation games like Microsoft Flight Simulator or X-Plane that are purpose-built for simulating aircraft. Players interested in flying airliners on a realistic level as BeamNG.drive offers it in vehicle driving may prefer these dedicated flight simulators over attempting to mod them into BeamNG.drive.

Maybe, but not on this thread, so propably unrelated or that person takes requests.
I was just saying what usually happens, so might not be accurate in all scenarios.

So then you could ask the same question to people modding boats into the game.

so then you compare a boat to an airliner... which you should not. Its like creating a small cruise ship or a complex turbine boat or airfoil boat. (which also does not exist. Guess why... complexity, time and effort for a small margin of people actually interested and and and) ;)

Thanks for only reacting to one little argument out of my comprehensive text, which is by the way the least strong. Think about the other arguments like complexity and the game engine and pc requirements for such things and not "wHy PeoPle DrIVe BoaTS ThEn?!"
    Thanks very much! ;)

Thing is, limits are meant to be broken. If someone wants to mod in airliners, why not do so? Obviously it's extremely complex, that's why you see so little airplane mods.
