lol, my mom has just told me that the truck (2000 chevy silverado 1500) is dying (engine sputters and stuff, i forgot exactly what she said it was doing)

any idea's? (inb4 "this isn't a good place to get vehicle maintenance advice" or joke messages like "Did you check the blinker fluid?")

Well i have no clue, But my assumptions are, Wrong fuel type, Engine needs replacing or repairing, Those are guesses(so i could be very wrong).

yeah it's not fuel type, we've used the exact same fuel type on all our vehicles, never had a problem (not to mention we've had the truck for quite a while actually, i forget when we originally bought it)

obviously the engine is going to need repaired, even if it's not the engine itself causing itself to stutter and stuff, as it has been leaking oil for a few months now (that's not it though, oil was replaced about a month ago) wiper fluid tank also has a leak, but that defintentley wouldn't affect anything

also just remembered another thing she said, it's also mis-firing, so now i'm thinking spark plugs or coil-packs (or possibly a engine sensor fuse causing the truck to go into a limp mode of some sort)

People always interested as to what this site is. I hate it when they ask. It's just like gah fuck off mind your own business asshole.
Then there are the people who just creep on your screen.
Or the people that watch you playing a game in class and make it super obvious that you're playing something. That probably bothers me the most.

well yeah, chevy is owned by GM, but in 2000 GM actually wasn't all that bad (at least in the silverado line, truck never had any problems before now, easily has over 200K miles right now)

How does a starter motor cause a misfire? Anyway, plug in an OBD-II and check the codes. (Like $10 for a cheap one like the one my dad has. Works pretty well.)

    Basically what I have.

    WP_20140601_007.jpg WP_20140601_008.jpg

2000 Chevy Silverado 1500 Z71. My dad recently replaced the truck bed because it was rusted to pieces. It has ~250k miles on it, but runs great. 5.3L V8.

Ours is just a normal 1500, no special off-roading packages or anything like that, but it did run quite well before it randomly decided to start misfiring and stuttering, not sure on what engine it has though :p, I do believe it has around the same or more miles on it as yours does though

You need to find out more information about the engine before we can help you.
Is it diesel or petrol, If it is petrol then it would be the distributor causing the missfire
