I found this. Is it to be trusted? Id test it, but I ain't taking the risk..... https://www.modland.net/beamng.drive-mods/cars/rzd-cars.html
No. Modland isn`t a trustable source. If thats not a meshslap it`s stolen. This is also the wrong section.
What risk lol, There is no risk, It's more dangerous using Facebook and Google.. You should have an up to date AV (AntiVirus Scanner) and AMS (Anti Malware Scanner) installed for your own security and peace of mind. Plus it says Russian on ModLand, Russian Technology kept NASA in space!!
Some user created content might be stolen but a simple web search of the included code could actually provide the original creator. Years ago the BeamNG Devs were forced to upload mods to share on 3rd party websites because they had problems with this website at the time, Not many people consider that.. Most just think ahh 3rd party website only contains stolen work.
content creators (especially paid ones) absolutely love telling people that ModLand is unsafe, and it's for one of 2 reasons... they are either ignorant and simply don't know any better, or they're just afraid you'll stumble upon their paid content for free and fear-monger because they don't want to lose out on your money/subscription... that's what nobody seems to want to talk about around here, so I guess I'll be the one to address this elephant. at this point I've had to have downloaded thousands of mods over the past how many years on every "sketchy" 3rd party site you can think of, and not once have I ever had to deal with malware (or any type of virus whatsoever, for that matter)... lots of people on here just like to lie about 3rd party sites and paint a terrible picture of them, but it's only to protect and benefit themselves, they don't care at all about you or your individual BeamNG.drive gaming experience, and you're a genuine idiot if you think otherwise.
What the heck, how have you come to such wild conclusion Russian websites have been a thing YEARS before paid mods were a thing and they always had terrible reputation, there's not much malware on them but there's a lot of garbage, leaked private mods and reuploads, and a lot of the mods from them straight up break the game, at one point it was so bad that the devs literally had to make a rule that links to such websites are not allowed on this forum to prevent people from downloading those mods... Also you are acting like everyone who hates those websites makes paid mods, but there are literally only like 10-20 paid mod makers and the overwhelming majority makes free mods. And please stop insulting everyone.
Why is everyone arguing over a risk of malware? i sadi nothing about malware. They`re not trustable because all sorts of low quality mods are advertised as something they`re not.
whenever i look at modland, i see 80% reuploaded "fixed" mods from modland itself 10% reuploaded beamng repo and forums mods and then the last 10% is pure garbage, leaked content and shitty paid mods --- Post updated --- 100% agree it also has a lot of ads in the page and everything good in there is reuploaded from the beam website or leaked stuff
this wild and crazy conclusion is literally my exact experience with using these sites for the better part of the last decade and realizing just how ridiculous some of y'all sound in here when talking about places like ModLand. 100% false, and this is exactly how I know you just pass on false information and have never spent any serious amount of time getting content from these sites. oh cool, let's keep beating dead horses and trying to apply situations from 10 years ago to the current climate. that is completely irrelevant to any situation regarding 3rd party sites, and you look silly reaching like that. false yet again. I'm simply highlighting the fact that it roots from content creators... not even going to address all of the casual players that just regurgitate false information that they have no personal experience with just because their favorite modder told them so. the typical user on here can't be bothered to read most things in general, what makes you think they're gonna comb through all the fear-mongering to find the factual information and have it resonate? UNETHICAL =/= UNSAFE
I think you have misunderstood my message completely. The wild conclussion I'm referring to is not that the site is virus-free (which is still false, and I agree a lot of people exaggerate the virus risk a lot since they don't know any better, but I've still heard some cases of people getting malware from that site) but the conclusion that it roots from the evil, dumb, greedy content creators who lie about the website for personal gain and don't care about other people. If they really don't care then why do most of them publish their mods for free? You think for attention? It would be really dumb to spend months of work on a mod just for attention. I pointed out the original root of the issue and you just say it's irrelevant because it was 10 years ago. You say I have no right to judge the website when I don't download many mods from it, well then you are not allowed to judge this forum when you don't spend much time on it. I won't even start on the fact that you imply that these websites are unethical but you still choose to download stuff from them... At least good that you listened and stopped using insults.
well, I got a lot of good stuff from here and beamngdrivemods, but I already fell into a venom gt, spawns without wheels and it's just a scintilla meshlap
Take our messages as advice. Don't download from them. All they have there are meshslaps, reuploads and viruses. Trust me, just because a mod looks good does not mean it's actually good.
