I am thinking mid-April, it is not really soon but is not months as they wanted to stick to a 3-month update schedule
yes but that's an estimated average, if it lasts 4 months it also a 3-4 months schedule and not every 6 months as i think 0.25 was
Correct me if I'm wrong: this is now the final pre-JV official level to get remastered, right? In theory, then, that should mean that the whole map team is now free to work on entirely new levels.
I said from 1 to 3 weeks away because of the 3 month cycle. We already passed the redline, but i was assuming it would be a little more. 4 weeks would also be a correct suggestion in my opinion. They always say "we are trying to stick to the 3 months cycle", so I always think "ok this time they will stick". But, still trying to keep the hype low for now.
Grid, Small, Pure remaster is the only thing I'm waiting for would take like 10 minutes max for the map team to do too, just reusing the gridmap textures and slapping on a better sky from one of the newer maps
Well I never assumed the update to drop before April as the devs had Christmas holidays as well which are 2 weeks and the 3 months are just a guideline ofc --- Post updated --- The Cliff map shouldn’t take long as well, maybe they will do them as well so everything is complete
Even someone from outside of the map team could do this if they are too busy. And it would be worth it since it's the most used map for me and some other modders, not joking. (Because of how fast it loads, even compared to Gridmap, it's the best map for when you don't actually want to use a map but just see your Jbeam, model and material changes in real time)
Since we’re most likely getting a race-themed update, and it will most likely include tire thermals, maybe tires will have collision with other parts of the car, so they don’t clip through the fender, and if they rub on the body, they pop? --- Post updated --- And since it’s a racing-themed update, I hope derby cars are updated, as some have rusty skins, and some have numbers, so I hope they’re all standardized
I doubt tire thermals are coming, since the team has had so many issues trying to set it up (For reference, they were supposed to be a part of the last update), I'm guessing the Automation Test Track redux is going to come as a compensation for no tire thermals, as well as various other racing themed addons
I would definitely rather have proper hydroplaning physics with real weather instead of tire thermals. Like the “rain” goes through the vehicle. What I’m trying say is that the developers should seriously consider adding accurate weather simulations, hydroplaning physics where you can actually lose control without turning, rain droplets on cars, and windshield wiper animations. Devs should also add some airbags
This is completely impossible with the amount of possible car and wheel combinations you can do in the game, if you want a universal system. Otherwise if you want it individually added per car like with the offroad vehicles, they would have to remaster most cars in the game again to make this possible, because they weren't made with this in mind. Even the Scintilla would need a complete overhaul which is ridiculous. Unless they found some weird Lua-based solution to detect how far the tire mesh is from the car mesh but that would probably need ray tracing to work.
hey bois, what cars do you think is in desperate need to a remaster? im going with the Moonhawk, Burnside, Sunburst and 200BX

so 0.27 was baja/offroad theme, 0.28 might be race/track themed, i wonder what the next themed update will be, maybe it could be a road trip theme, can you imagine, different wagon variants, a minivan, more roof loads, trunk loads (like suitcases and stuff) maybe even a new rv, like the ones seen in Johnson valley, who knows,
