More work has been done on the Pre Small Island mod. Forests are being worked on (JRI trees work really well!) and the old grass has been recreated based off of a single Snip Will make it soon.
Considering that someone was allowed to upload dry rock island with AI pathing to the repository(namely this), you could probably do the same with fall island.
My memory isn't great, but I remember many years ago (around about 2014) my friend sent me a copy of BeamNG 0.3.something. Back then, my computer was so weak, the lighting would be dark as hell, and the game crashed the moment I tried to accelerate. After years of thinking, I came to the conclusion that it was a mixture of 2-3 things. The age of the computer was the main culprit, but it could have been a problem with the graphics settings. Everything was set to minimum, and I later read one of the 2016 update logs that mentioned the game previously crashing on those settings. Linux could have also played a part in this, but by the time I read that update log, I had bought the game on Steam (2019), and had long deleted the old copy.
I've been trying to find a video showing the problem, but all I'm seeing is those damn "Lightning McQueen Big Sizes Jumps Into Red Water!" based videos. From what I recall, the game ran at about 15 fps or something. I can't remember the exact number at this point. The lighting looked like a slightly brighter version of 0.27 at midnight. I could see everything (relatively) well, but the sky was pitch black, and everything else was very dark. I could replace the default D-Series with another version of it, although I only ever tried spawning the Off-Road model. It all seemed to work, but for some reason, it was the acceleration that triggered it.
I hadn't really touched the gamma, unless my friend had it like that. Even with low gamma, it wouldn't be as dark as it was. EDIT: Reverted back to 0.4.0.6 to get this picture. Imagine this sort of darkness, but with colour in the environment. From what I remember, all of the objects had their normal colours. (grey grid, white D-Series, etc). FURTHER EDIT: It looked like this, but the Time of Day was set to its default of around midday (not midnight, as per the picture below). It could have been my GPU that was causing the problem with the lighting though. Unfortunately, I can't remember what the GPU actually was. The picture brightens up to its intended state if you click on it.
So there's this video where someone got their hands on version 0.1 and provided the download link too... And I have ported the D-Series from it to the current version. I have just done the bare minimum to get it working and not conflicting with current version, which surprisingly took only an hour, this game has some great backwards compatibility. This version has some quirks to it. It's not colorable, the seat looks like a couch in an old lady's house, lights don't break, the lower headlights are actually parking lights in it (in current version of the game they are just turned on as long as the engine is on) while the upper are low/high beams, it's RWD only despite having a front transfercase (but no front diff), has a bunch of off-road parts in the parts selector, also sport wheels, race steering wheel (both it and the stock steering wheel have jank animation) and I6 engine available. Probably the most interesting thing is that the metal can shatter on very hard impacts. Can I post the port here or would I risk getting banned for it? And do people even want this if there's a 0.3 port available anyway?
this is really cool so is it possible that there will be every known version of the game on this google drive and I know this is not going to be helpfull but i have the update before or right after the roamer remaster on my laptop
I would absolutely love to upload my old versions of Beam, I just dont want to risk the devs banning me or something of the sort. If one could come in here and grant permission I would absolutely love to help out
Yeah, that would be great since we're just sharing suuuuper antiquated versions that are cooler to have for preservation's sake. --- Post updated --- Like, before 0.4 tier old (everything past that van be played with relative ease) --- Post updated --- Yeah! I think it would be really cool to drive. Also finally DRI gets some love from someone other than me.
Very interesting! I suppose I have the earliest release version but I have no idea how the heck that guy got version 1.1? Unless its an edited later version of the game made to look like v1.1 idk?
Yeah! I think it would be really cool to drive. Also finally sri It really could be (that title screen looks kinda dodgy...)
Been working more on OG Small Island. It's still using materials.cs and Materials v1 lol --- Post updated --- What maps were around in 0.3.0? I think it went DRI, Small Island, Industrial Site, Gridmap, and GSP. Am I right?
i also have a copy of 0.3.0, it includes all of those plus "derby arenas" and "cliff" (which strangely spawns along 2 covets with you? weird) here's a pic of the levels folder. let me know if the pic doesn't know up. frankly i haven't used these forums much
I've downloaded 0.1, and it does indeed seem to be an edited version of a later update. The Moonhawk, the Pigeon, the T-Series, and more are all in the vehicle files, and I don't think the Moonhawk came until at least a year or two later. Microsoft Defender doesn't flag anything though, so that's a bonus.
