Should've added that the pictures are slightly outdated, they have been removed now. And I'm still pretty sure that the speakers in the dashboard are air vents since they share the same type of grille the center air vent does
Could be. Never looked at them upclose and I never seen ones like these in a real car, so I thought they were speakers. That's a pretty popular place to install the tweeters.
Even if those were speakers the rebadging company would've probably simply taken off the actual speaker and left the grill so they wouldn't have to replace the whole dashboard
Ilkkun "facelift" (2004-Present) with injected engine (whopping 94 horsepower!), headrests, passenger mirror, and improved transmission Reminder that I am open to all suggestions
Suggestion on the name: Seongchwi Chenorima(성취 천리마)(Achievement Maxima) I know there's already a car made by Nissan IRL called Maxima, but in North Korea who cares? In North Korea most folks have no idea about what "Foreign brand" is.Only upper class would have chance to own private cars and learn about foreign brands.Generally, civilians in North Korea have no chance to own cars. They can only take public transports, ride bicycles or walk.If they have a chance to drive,it must be a car owned by government or other institutes. Back to the name Chenorima, there's a song in North Korea named Chenorima, highly praised the great juche ideology and country-constructing thoughts by Kim Il-sung.It also referred to "Chenorima Movement",a social construction movement in North Korea started by Kim Il-sung in 1957. In my opinion it's a very typical North Korean name.Ilkkun stands for "Automobile"in Korean, which is too direct.
Actually in China we do have a CKD version Mercedes W123 E-Class,just like that North Korean version W123 that inspired the author to make this mod. In 1989,FAW's main factory in Changchun produced some W123 E-Class in CKD way.828 units in total was produced. That's because FAW intended to stop the production of Hongqi(Red Flag) CA770 in late 80s because it's already outdated. They wanted to produce the new Hongqi on the basis of W123.Here,officials have difference of opinion. Some of them disagreed because the W123 was also a outdated car in 1989(Official production by Mercedes stopped in 1985).At last they only produced 828 units.Including 200E,230E and 230E Limosine. At last in 1992,Hongqi CA770 series really ended its production. The new generation Hongqi luxury saloon was developed on the basis of Audi 100.The Hongqi version was called Hongqi CA7220,share the same production line with original Audi 100 in FAW's main factory in Changchun.
Lorewise, what platform would it be based on? I doubt that North Korea would really use an ETK platform. Instead, it would be some Chinese car made to look like an ETK.
I think north koreans won't know what a sport variant is.In north korean you can't really get a fast car
Ah yes. In North Korea normal citizens are not allowed to buy private car.If someone could get a private car,it must be somewhat great scientists, artists, officials and athletes.
The only way for a "sport" variant to exist is if it was exported (somehow), then someone modified it. It would give some content to the mod that keeps it engaging.
