steam is dead

i cant open any steam apps or steam itself since i uninstalled google chrome now it looks like this


i cant even re-install steam

 

it looks like you uninstalled steam, not chrome (heck, i can even see chrome is open in the taskbar)

 

i reinstalled it before steam died cause it was fucked

i just tryed the old off and on trick didnt work

 

You're going to have to re-install steam I'm afraid.. Fortunately if as you say you did not uninstall the steam program, all of your downloaded games may still be saved inside the \steamapps folder. this means that when you re-install steam all of your games should still be installed without having to download them all again!

Go onto the steam website and download the installer, go through the setup... Once done steam should be effectively up and running again because of this clean install. If your games do not appear as downloaded, I'm afraid you'll have to download them all to your PC again. If they are there, everything should just work again

 

i know im doing it now i have to download all 13gb of gtaiv again it took 7 hours last time
i have 11 games bng is taking 30 mins

my suggestion to fix directx:

do a complete uninstall of directx 9, then re-install directx 9 (if directx 9 doesn't show up as a valid program at all in your control panel, just use the link below and re-install)

It has happened to me a few times too. I fixed it by deleting everything from steam folder but steamapps and steam.exe. After that, steam will redownload itself when launched again, and all the games will stay in your library.

 

cant install that as i have windows 8 it says i need xp or lower

 

yes you can install it :/ if you couldn't, then thered be no way for us to run beamng (as beamng uses directx 9)

 

Holy shit..

Wipe your whole PC. Start from scratch. Reinstall Windows. Don't just go downloading worthless stuff, get Steam and Chrome installed and take it from there.

 

Many DirectX 9 games have this problem with Windows 8(.1) and is a major reason I hate it. Try installing the techdemo from http://www.beamng.com/techdemo , this should force DX installation and fix the full version. your can uninstall the techdemo once the full game is working.

I highly doubt anything is wrong with his PC other than Windows 8 being a terrible OS that can't software compatibility. I remember having the same problems with a brand-clean install of 8 for a custom build.

it seems like there's something wrong with your pc, i suggest going to control panel and uninstalling everything to do with directx you can, then install the directx you found in the common redist

if it still doesn't work, then your pc has something really wrong with it, and you should run a virus scan
