Yes they did very successfully indeed! From small to large Mercedes vans up to almost every german mercedes taxi in the late 80s to the early 2000s since these were indestructible they were almost made for taxi abuse since they derived from the vans
Maybe both. And, considering that Mercedes-Benz produced inline 5 diesel engines (that were applied on pretty much everything, from their sedans to the Unimog), we can speculate about that, too.
Tbh, I think that the 2.0 4- and 3.0 6-cylinder diesels make more sense for a passenger ETK model due to their usual displacement per cylinder, which is 0.5l, and because the larger the displacement per cylinder, the rougher the engine operation becomes (especially if the engine is a diesel) and that might make the driver and passengers slightly uncomfortable. Supposing the upcoming German truck has a 3-liter 5-cylinder (which makes for 0.6l per cylinder), an I5 diesel would make more sense for commercial use because ok, rough engine operation isn't all that important in a commercial vehicle. All that matters in such a car is durability. Plus, the larger each cylinder is, the more hp/torque load it can take. It's also gonna be very interesting having both NA and turbocharged versions of the engine(s), I'd really like to see what an NA diesel engine drives like!
The wipers being wrong, plus the next map being "sunny and dry," plus the apparent off-road focus of recent teasers, has me thinking this is an Aussie-spec model and the next map will be Australia. I do still hope we get more configs than just a fire engine, though
Oh boy i cant wait to have an old NA Diesel! I will drive like a rock on wheels and i will absolutely love it, especially with an ancient torque converter automatic!
hopefully there will also be a 4 wheel version with "shorter" body. Maybe we can expect single or dual cab verion? .btw this truk realy remidns me of vw t3
And there I have existential problem. Automation Map is based on New Zeland so country is in Oceania. There is big difference between Germany and Italy but between New Zeland and Australia is not. If they do Australia map for me this is wasting their time. I think they should remade Automation map as Oceania map and then focus on country in Africa, Asia, North EU or South America (but in that case we have Jungle Rock Island which is Asia or South America). My point of view is that new map should be unique in case of conditions and represent something else than maps which already are in game.
Picture from horizon 3 of Australia: It's very different from any map we currently have, and even more from automation test track. What matters is not the localisation but the landscape.
Cliffs we have in Jungle Rock Island, water on Italy map same as trees, grass and others. Beach also is on Jungle Rock Island
That 3-speed automatic will make the NA diesel engine's life that much harder!! You'll always need to resort to the low range to accelerate in a decent manner!!
Love. This. Thing. Couldn't get around to seeing the teaser earlier because of work but it sure got me excited! Anything old and analog...yes. Please more of this!
Also if we talking about what we have in game similiar to Australia in FH3 Cliffs: Jungle Rock Island Grassy spaces with kangaroos in FH3: Small Island Jungle: Jungle Rock Island Beaches: Jungle Rock Island, Italy, Small Island There is only one thing we don't have in BeamNG but its in the FH3 (not counting City because we know that BeamNG can be not capable of big city): Desert/Sandy Hills But I don't get it why people want to get Italy mixed with Jungle Rock Island and with Small Island just to get desert or sandy hills. We can go to Africa or Middle East or even Mongolia in Asia. Different and unique conditions but also unique map. Not mix of every map just to get Australia. I see only one point why people want to get Australia map but idk if BeamNG is capable of upside down world
Could this update be the biggest yet? I see no reason to tease so much so soon if it's not going to release this winter. We've had ETK parts/possible remaster, at least a new baja truck/possible whole new truck, tire thermals, and this fire truck. I'm not going to count my eggs before they hatch, but I am getting hyped.
