Re: General discussion chat Well, my new SSD arrived and I unplugged my HDDs then installed Windows. It boots up to a black screen with a cursor and stays there. Fuck.
Re: General discussion chat My school just put out an email to all students. Am i the only person who thinks the sole purpose of this email is to mislead? Even if they haven't lied at any point. I know their intentions are good and they are legally required to ensure that people in school can only access age appropriate content but personally i think emails like this are quite dangerous, But i can only assume most people will ignore it. The other thing i take issue with is that i am not sure how they would enforce it. I have major doubts that their system alerted them to this, i think it is way more likely that a teacher saw someone using YouTube in a lesson. You could replace every occourence of vpn with the word email and it would be just as true as using vpn. To me it seems like scare tactics. Either way i use my mobile contract on my phone, its faster and has no restrictions. Good job i looked at the sender, cause the title almost made me send it directly to spam:" WARNING: VPNs are dangerous... [IMPORTANT EMAIL]" It looks so similar to a phishing scheme claiming that my computer has a virus and that i need to give them my personal details
Re: General discussion chat A couple of my steam friends I know personally. My uncle, cousin, and friend.
Re: General discussion chat Counted 14 of my steam friends list as people I actually know IRL. 10 as people I don't, and of those 10, 2 are actually the same guy who for some reason has 2 profiles.
Re: General discussion chat Definitly the school trying to scare people into not using them. It pisses me off when they do that. Pisses me off when anyone does that. If you have a problem, tell me. Don't beat around the bush.
Re: General discussion chat The only people who are on my Steam friends list whom I know IRL are my siblings, my boss' son, and "family friends".
Re: General discussion chat Yey. I got Windows to work. This is what it feels like booting up compared to my ancient drives: - - - Updated - - - You mean bestie? (Bestie is Dalek's best friend IRL, he is the son of his parents friends or something.)
Re: General discussion chat My school blocks way too many websites. My solution? VPN. They also block pretty much everything on the school PCs, so I use a Windows exploit to get a full admin account. You can't tell me what not to do. i am hax0rz
Re: General discussion chat You get expelled for using VPNs and proxies at my school. The program they use to block websites also blocks them when you are on a different network. So I can't even use my school laptop to access stuff like youtube at home. Rather unfortunate.
Re: General discussion chat VPNs worked at my middle school, but here they don't do anything. :\ I can easily get to most blocked sites by adding an s to http:// https://youtube.com has never failed me. There's other stuff that doesn't work with though. And the program likes to randomly block threads and shit on the forums. Like all the sudden earlier today it decided to block me out of the folding@home thread. I haven't been able to get to my profile in a while. Blocks that too.
Re: General discussion chat For awhile in my old school you could go onto google translate, tell it to translate a website from english to english, blocked sites would load. Then they fixed that. Then we tried HTTPS, that one never worked :/ Then we found various proxies, they gradually got blocked. We did eventually run out of options.
Re: General discussion chat Has nothing to do with the computer. The internet blocks shit. Like if you connect to the wifi with your phone, stuff like Instagram and ifunny and twitter won't load because they're blocked.
Re: General discussion chat Well, my PC is now all back together with the 240GB SSD and my 500GB Barracuda HDD. (Green drives are gone now. I'll use them for backups and in my other PC I'm putting together.) I thought the Barracuda was about the same speed as all three of them in RAID 0 but it turns out the Barracuda is actually about 20-30 MB/s faster.
Re: General discussion chat i was talking more to n0ah as he said even on his home network his school pc was being blocked because of the program they have installed on there
