As long as you don't need your office suit to generate a bibliography kingsoft office does a pretty good job. Although if you need excel or access you may be pretty screwed unless you want to access it with sql.

Office 365 is offered for free through uni for the duration of my course. It is now fully installed and working fine. I don't remember the option of having office default to open document formats in older office versions, if that is new for office 2013 then thats a pretty nice thing to have.

I used to use LibreOffice, that is probably my favourite free office suite.

Just make sure its not the same as the horrid experience I had with a local garage and my felicia. Turn the key and the starter motor wouldnt even be triggered, took em 2 weeks to not find a solution. Switch was worn out.

I tried that along with open office. But i didn't like the old style interface (which i am assuming is probably not difficult to change). After trying both of them i went on my phone and realized that kingsoft office may be on pc also. Turns out it is, and the feature difference between the free and paid versions are so minimal that i don't see much reason why anyone other than possibly a business would upgrade. Its word equivalent is ms office compatible in terms of saving and loading work.
My sixth form only gives out copies of visual studio 2012 for computing students, but don't give out ms office. They mainly use google drive now but that isn't really good enough for a lot of things in my opinion.

Yeah, screw that company that most likely makes your primary operating system. How dare they make an incredibly stable platform for applications to run upon. I cant believe they had the cheek to make a very functional office suite that is convenient and easy to use. No, they don't deserve any of my money...

While i do not agree with the company on many things, they make software such as windows which is genuinely amazing. Only for other companies to create badly made drivers/software and screw it all up resulting in people complaining to Microsoft.

If that's legit its fairly awesome :D
Looking forward to the PC release of GTA5, it will be the first "full price" game that i will have bought in over a year now since no one else has released a full price game that has warranted £40 - £60 of my money (of course that is in my opinion).

Wow that actually sounds amazing. I might have to get GTA V at full price then instead of waiting for the spring sale.

I'm considering buying office 365 since it's actually pretty cheap. But I need to save money and I refuse to use crappy free office suites.

regular office pays for itself within 2 years against office 365, I wouldnt touch 365 if not for the fact I am legitimately getting it for free.

2007 was horrible, unstable and slow. And the cloud editing features in 2013 make onedrive worth using.

I would go on about how linux is better and that you don't have to pay for shit, but BlueScreenofdeath would tell me to fuck off.

depends on distro, there are some linux distro's that you pay for (and games still cost money, running linux doesn't magically make everything become free ;))
