1. I have managed to enlarge the highway and will attempt to make a suburbs next to it. 2. I have attempted to use the terrain editor on the island but it wouldn't let me use it so there will be no neighbourhood across the bridge.
yeah, i can only fill trees and some of the small trees right there, i attempted to make a dirt track, but sadly i can't modify the terrain
You cant add any terrain past what is already there... The terrain is limited to a certain size and resolution. The developers off this map needed a resolution good enough to have smooth roads for the city, but big enough to fit all they need. When you press M for the overview, and zoom in on the outskirts, do you see where it sorta changes colour? That is the extent of the map. It is impossible to make the map bigger, and keep the current terrain. You either reimport a larger heightmap, and ruin all the details, or you only work with the current extents. The devs would make the map bigger if they could, but it is a game engine limitation. For the island, you will have to make everything out of meshes, which means you wont have any groundcover, and messed up normals if you have bad poly flow. It will look like those Assetto Corsa ports. If I were you, i would remove the racetrack. If people want the racetrack they can use the normal map. Build some new suburbs, maybe a nature park, expand the city. If you want to improve the map, maybe take a look at this thread, they have some good ideas: https://www.beamng.com/threads/west-coast-usa.69828/
thanks for telling me that i cant use the terrain past a certain point and also for the link to suggestions form due the fact that i cant build past the terrain the extra roads will officially be abandoned and i will try to turn the racetrack area into a airport
update on progress: added turn around point at end of highway also made the environment a bit darker to make it more realistic that's all for now I will try to start making airport by the next update
But I think the turnaround road is better to be a tunnel, just like a turnaround tunnel at the end of the bridge. And the darker environment is pretty good for me
