Now that I think about it, the hit and run I saw last summer may have actually been a sucessful attempt...

New ignition coils fixed it. If only I hadn't broken three of the latches that keep the plug wires attached (two at least theoretically my fault, the third was just stupid brittle plastic being its usual self). I hope that JB Weld Plastic Bonder holds until I can replace the connectors. But mechanically, it's fixed, pulls all the way up to redline with no misfiring.

These problem can be alleviated because engine can be maintained. Li-ion battery on the other hand, cannot be maintained. Maintaining ICEV is expensive? Well, replacing motor four times and replacing battery thrice is more expensive. Firstly, modern cars' emission is already 1/1000 than decades ago. Secondly, we are nobody, we have negligible environmental impact. Sorry to break your illusion, but many of electric cars are poorly designed. For example, Teslas have: No brake blending and forcing the driver to use the gas pedal to control regen(regen setting no longer adjustable), increasing the possibility of pedal misapplication No windshield wiper control lever, rain sensor can be erroneous, adjust wiper manually you have to click the infotainment screen to OPEN UP A MENU, THEN click the setting, which contribute to distracted driving. Use electronic buttons to open the doors, only have mechanical backup on the front doors, making the rear occupant much harder to escape in the event of accident or vehicle failure. Other EVs are also not free of fatal flaws, the Chevy bolt's brake blending is problematic, the regen is unreliable, hitting a pothole, speed bump or a rumble strip can cause regen to vanish, in this case, the friction brakes fails to increase braking intensity to counteract the sudden loss of deceleration. Spending more money for the sake of "environment" is not really a very clever move IMHO. Sorry if sound harsh, but most players on this forum are nobody. Now EVs are getting even more expensive due to supply line shortage of key component such as lithium, this and this and this. You know many flaws of a petrol engine, but do you know the flaws of a li-ion battery? I'm comparing a battery to an engine is because in an EV, chemical reaction takes place in the battery, not in the motor. The battery itself is a huge electrochemistry reactor. In an ICEV, exhaust gas is discarded and engine components can be taken apart and maintained. In an EV, the reactant and reactor cannot be separated. In other words, you cannot "refill"(refuel) or "deactivate"(reduce risk when not in use) it. A reactor need regular maintenance. Batteries like NiCd and Lead-Acid can be maintained easily. An aging lead-acid battery's electrolyte can be refilled and electrode be desulfurated, partially restoring it's life. Ni-Cd battery's electrolyte loss due to frequent overcharging and high current discharging can be replenished by opening its vent and full distilled water, memory effect can be cleared by deep discharging. Li-ion's electrode can be oxidized when exposed to air, thus, this type of battery cannot be maintained. In comparison, a NiCd battery can maintain 80% capacity over 25 years. Li-ion battery is not very stable, unlike NiMH, NiCd or lead-acid, overdischarging a Li-ion can and will cause the collapse of graphite structure. And, well, battery self-discharges, if an EV that left alone for a long time, it's Li-ion pack will self-destruct. Thus you cannot restore and drive an "EV rustbucket". And overcharging a Li-ion can cause delamination, while charging a NiCd battery, damage can be prevented or at least reduced by recombination. Li-ion battery suffer from thermal runaway, and it emits oxidizer during the decomposition process, making its fire very difficult to extinguish, compared to petrol fire. Li-ion battery's is very sensitive to temperature. The lower the temperature, the higher the internal resistance, the lower the efficiency, at higher temperature, the battery's cycle life and calendar life will reduce . NiMH, NiCd and lead-acid's internal resistance suffers less from temperature. To make matters worse, at below 0℃, Li-ion cannot be safely recharged. On places such as Siberia and Alaska, a huge trunk of energy will be needed to maintain said battery temperature if people all drive EV. Batteries suffer from polarization, which means the larger the current draw, the higher the internal resistance. This factor limits battery power even if the pack is sufficiently cooled. Li-ion battery suffers from aging more when the battery level is high. 0~50% cycle is better than 0~100% cycle is better than 50~100% cycle. You can have either less range anxiety or better battery life, but not both. However, this is still not the biggest problem in EV or future vehicle in general. Even if EVs' li-ion pack can last decades, will their computer last long? Future vehicle, in the current flawed trend, will cram as many computer as possible for the use of eye candies such as ADAS. These system is much more complex than a gaming laptop, and well, my gaming laptop broke twice in only five years. They don't last. I'm not going to buy a car in the future regardless of powertrain because computerized cars take away user's rights.

Insurance companies already do this. The fuck? I can't speak for other countries. but just about everything in America is produced via fossil fuel energy. This is true, but as time goes on, things will improve. We are in a similar situation now with EVs as we were in 1910 with cars in general- lots and lots of brands (with more on the way) and relatively low, but rapidly improving quality control, plus being in a transition period between mass experimentaion and industry standardization. The difference is, it's optional right now, at least in the US. To my insurance company, I'm just a name and a car. They have no idea how I drive, and that's just how I like it. And yet still, the people telling us to use less of it use the most of it themselves. I drive a combustion-powered car. I drive it very roughly. Unlike the people telling me to replace it with a slot car, however, I do not have multiple multi-thousand-square-foot mansions and use private jets to travel between them. I could also be getting my electricity from hydro right now, but you'd have to talk to my local environmentalists about that one, because they seem very interested in making sure that project never happens. Unfortunately. I missed the part where this is either a good thing or a reason to make it even easier for them. Also, again, you can leave your phone home if you're worried about it, albeit at the price of not being able to call for help if something goes wrong.

Rear ended some one in the valiant, i hit the wheel hard but feel fine so far (a couple of hours have past), insurance will pay for all damages, the only hurt anyone has suffered would be my pride. Thankfully the bumper and consequently the frame went under their car so its been spared major structural damage (a slightly misaligned drivers door... Again!!!). Damn that was a brand new sealed beam... Pictures tomorrow

I'm 100% with you on this. The trend of the modern world is to push people farther and farther into docility and tameness - to break their will and their individuality. On a fundamental level, I cannot go along with this. I was raised too differently.
Here is my baby, currently working on an engine swap. It has the original 3L v6. The current plan is jamming a 2.5-Liter CRDi out of a 2006 Hyundai Starex. It's sitting on 38" wheels. Individual suspension at the front and solid rear diff. Planing on putting a solid up front as well so i can lift it more and gett bigger tyres.
