(I don't know if there is already a newer thread on this subject, but I tried to post in one from 2018 and I couldn't).

For those using keyboard controls, is it possible to limit the accelerator or brake pedal actuation to 10 or 20% for a more realistic acceleration? In my case, to test the reaction of an automatic transmission, since currently I can only accelerate 0% or 100% at once. I have no interest in installing pedals.

I also wonder if this function didn't exist in 2018, but maybe it does now.

If you can help me, thank you.

    It is not.

A gamepad is highly recommended for any vehicle simulators, as you would have better control over acceleration and steering. It's an easier thing to get if a wheel isn't for you.

honestly any generic gamepad should do, saw people using Xbox One gamepads often.

You can map mouse for throttle and brakes. Quite a lot of people are playing that way (including me before I figured how to connect mine PS3 gamepad) and it working quite well. You should get used to it rather quickly.

Depends on budget and taste, but most should work.

Xbox One controllers are great for Windows, Xbox 360 controllers can be found cheap used if you want cheaper.

I personally use a logitech F310, works all good with BeamNG.

Thanks a lot for the tips. Both (Xbox 360 and Logitech) have good and almost identical prices.

Which one has better throttle and brake sensitivity?

So, XBox One controller is probably the easiest to set up and use, however, I hate the triggers on it, they just suck.
I'm currently using a PS5 controller for all work related things, takes a bit more dedication to get running (3rd party software etc), but for me the result is overall much better.

Thanks to everyone who replied. I'll try with the 360 controller. The Logitech one has the smallest wire and the PS5 is costing $350.00 here...

There are mechanical keyboards with analogue switches, and maybe you could bind an analogue throttle to that somehow?
