I remember when steam recommendations showed me this game in 2014 because I got wreckfest. Looked on youtube to see reviews or tec demos and was intrigued by it's unique deformation system which very few games to my knowledge had and coming off of the xbox 360 days. I came here since it was not available yet and day 1 for steam bought the game from this website on the December 31st 2014. Worth every penny.

I look forward to the future and hope for another 10 years.

Sadly I currently don't have the time to explore the 'game' (read 'simulator') as much as I'd want to
but I would surely do so if I could. Don't get me wrong, I'm keeping up with every update of the game
and I follow the forums frequently :) I said the following before and probably will say again : When I
first discovered BeamNG.drive the concept was just mesmerizing ; 'No other sim offered what this one
had in its sleeves.' I quickly tried out the free demo and loved the physics but, the 'Covet and the
D-Series just weren't quite drive-able at that point' hah ! The time wasn't there and I just had to wait
to see what would happen.. Then, some years later, I found the time to rediscover how far BeamNG got,
immediately bought the game and started modding :) It was the dream of a late Eighties dreamer to come true :D
Thank you again, BeamNG.drive Development Team, for making this possible in a time (back then) where the
'main stream titles' (cringe * cringe) just would NOT allow us ( and still don't hahah) the freedom to explore and
experience true simulation and modding capabilities !

Thank you, Community, for being there along with this great sim and above all :

    Happy 10th Anniversary, BeamNG.drive !

    Re: 10 years ...

As they say, time flies like an arrow. Almost 10 years ago, I first saw the official trailer for BeamNG, and then experienced it first-hand in the form of version 0.3.0.5 from 2013. Back then, the D-Series, H-Series, Grand Marshal, Covet, Bolide, and Moonhawk were the only official vehicles implemented in the game. And who else couldn't forget the initial 7 official levels, including Dry Rock Island? Granted, I actually pirated the game in the early days (in this case, version 0.3.0.5) as some people have also admitted to doing on this thread, but I eventually bought the game legitimately. Definitely worth paying for on Steam :)

Fast forward to today, and a lot has changed without a doubt. More official content arrived in the form of both vehicles and levels, while more features were added to make the game more relevant (FMOD support, license plates, scenarios, traffic, and many, many other enhancements and improvements). In addition, the game's UI has seen visual upgrades over those 10 years; the same can be said for the forums (look at the Internet Archive's Wayback Machine if you want to take a peek at the forums 10 years ago). Now, revisiting 0.3.0.5 brings back some nostalgia, and I am glad to have been part of the community ;)

Thank you to the developers - both current and former staff members - who have spent a decade into making BeamNG one of the most realistic vehicle simulators! The soft-body physics continue to impress me in those 10 years. It's been a wild journey, and I am looking forward to another 10 years

Time has flown by so fast hasn't it? It hurts to admit and I do apologize, but I pirated the game back in mid 2016 as at that time after watching some of my favorite youtuber's player Beamng.Drive, and even watching spinoffs/movies based off of it! Fast forward a few years, and I decided to purchase the actual game via Steam in 2019-2020 (Frankly I don't remember the exact date) genuinely because I was so fascinated with the game. It is mind-boggling how the developers at Beamng.Drive can make a game with such realistic physics that you feel like you're in a car. Our community has been a staple for the development and entertainment of Beamng through mods, levels, assets, vehicles, UI, and more! I may not be a veteran, but it's fun to watch the evolution of the updates occurring over-time. Kudos to all former/previous and current developers and moderators at Beamng.Drive making our community and game a better place! Cheers to another 10 years/decade! :)

P.S. This is one of my first screenshot after buying Beamng after discovering how to take screenshots

I'm not as active on the forums any more, but I've been here since the RoR days. I remember the lead up to release, with the flip-clock countdown, and one of the developers (I think) posting The Final Countdown by Europe as it came to a close. I remember the server struggling under the weight of everyone trying to download the demo, and I remember my first FastSpring order getting bounced due to my bank's fraud protection :p Had to call them and tell them that yes, I did mean to send a hitherto unknown company in Germany money.

I remember the game being in the right place at the right time to take full advantage of Steam Greenlight and massively expand the game's audience.

I can't believe just how much things have grown from the original team of 4 all-star RoR contributors, and I hope things continue to grow.

I think with the CPU power of the new consoles along with the fact that the team somehow continues to optimize the physics core despite already being able to run at a mindboggling 2khz, we may see a game running on BeamNG physics on console before the generation is over, and I think as hardware and the software continue to evolve you'll be perfectly positioned to be a dominant player in the 10th gen console space. That is, of course, assuming that offering a physics middleware solution is still the plan.

Sometimes I feel guilty I got 10 years and counting of high quality updates for ~$20. That's a support record that puts most AAA companies to shame, I don't know how you guys do it.

The only game I can think of that matches BeamNG's no-DLC longevity is Minecraft, which is backed by one of the largest corporations in the world. Impressive!

Found this game in 2018, bought it a year later.

    What an absolute masterpiece.
I remember my laptop at the time only being able to run grid small pure and matrix freeway at a playable framerate, but now I've got a whole rig and it's been so much fun watching the game develop and become what it is now. Thanks devs and modders, you all are absolute legends.

I remember when gabester was making the most incredible mods ever back in the Rigs of Rods days. Some of the Beamng cars are from RoR!

Cant believe its been 10 years since that, I was being a fool on the Automation forums back then, then I found this game and gave up FOREVER on Automation and went full time here I STILL have the email I got sent almost 9 years ago to this day when I bought this game, I wish I had signed up sooner but I am happy to be within the first 31,000 people who did and to see how it went from Tapchat to this is astounding!

It had to have been spring break 2021 / March 22 2021 that i finally bought the game after watching YouTube video after video, since then i've had 2,100 hours on the game which i enjoyed every second of.
Congrats to all the devs, modders, and community members. Let's go for another 10 years?

Edit: 2nd date wasn't labeled right
Edit again: It's 2200 hours now

Is BeamNG still using CryEngine3, or have they switched to a 100% custom engine?

Also why did the dev team mention that their beam engine was "proprietary"? I mean how is that a big plus XD

Beam hasn't used CryEngine in a long time, probably since the first demo or so. It's based on an engine called Torque3D AFAIK
