    Hi,

So, I decided to make a first attempt at map making

This is a map from the old racing game 'Mercedes Benz World Racing' (2003),
Its an 2x2½km map inspired by the alps.
It contains a mix of tarmac, dirt and snow roads.

    Features:
    - Complete terrain & roads imported & redone in PBR
    - Timetrials [x5]
    - Animated flying stuff
    - Traffic

    Todo:
    - Updating textures from structures to PBR
    - Working lights (streetlights & tunnels)
    - Adding details to cliffs

    Credits/Permission:
    Synetic,
    Unique-Games (new rights holder)

    RepoLink

When you update the map from an older version, things can often break.
Because of that, I recommend clearing the cache after an update.
If you don’t want to kill the whole cache, deleting "...\AppData\Local\BeamNG.drive\0.24\temp\levels\mbwr_alps" should do also work.

It's nice to see someone porting over a Synetic Games map to BeamNG. It brings back some nostalgia if you ask me. Although I'd want to see some map ports from the Crash Time series (aka Alarm für Cobra 11 in Germany), I will be looking forward to exploring this World Racing map in BeamNG nonetheless :)

Yea, World Racing was basically the BeamNG of my childhood, a ton of feeroaming and crashing xD

I actually had A11-Nitro too, was an extra on some driver DVD,
the other a11 maps I know mostly from WR2 mods.

Was there on you liked specifically?
But If I do more than this one, I'll probably concentrate on WR first ^^

So, the first release of the alps map.
Its still lacking a lot of details, and most objects are at this point still a 1:1 rip
But I think it’s already somewhat presentable ^^

I just tried the first beta release of the Alps map in BeamNG. Long story short, it's an impressive port from World Racing. Truth be told, I spent more time on the Crash Time series than the World Racing titles back then, though I am still happy to see a Synetic map port nonetheless, as I previously mentioned :)

I am particularly glad to see a few other people who have previously played any of the Synetic titles, other than me. In regards to this question, there are a total of 6 entries in the Cobra 11 video game series if I remember correctly: Nitro, Crash Time, Burning Wheels, Highway Nights, The Syndicate, and Undercover. Each one has more than one location with different sceneries, which I believe would be suitable for an open-world game like BeamNG.

If I want to be completely honest, I'd like to see all of the maps from both the Crash Time and World Racing series in BeamNG. Although you are free to port over any of the maps in any order as you wish, you have done a fantastic work with the Alps port, demonstrating that they can be done. Therefore, I am anxious to see what other Synetic map ports you have in mind :D

    thanks

    Yea, that’s also planned ^^

    Happy you like it ^^

I was also pleasantly surprised, that a lot of people seem to know Synetic-Games.
At first, I was not sure if anybody would even know what I’m talking about xD

Thank you for the porting! :)

Had a lot of memories with both MBWR and WR2, the map fits BeamNG so well!

So, I began slowly upgrading original textures to higher resolution (128->512) PBR textures.

This are my first attempts with substance designer, but I think it’s still a nice improvement over the original textures.

    What do you guys think?

    Small update

    - Fixed a lot of broken normal & materials
    - PBR update for guardrails, and a few stone materials
    - Added a few missing models like streetlights, and some basic overhanging cliffs.
    - Traffic should “somewhat” work now
    - Cleaned up a few other small things…

    Edit
    - Removed floating cliffs
