Hey! in recent months I've really fallen in love with sedans, in particular sporty/classy sedans, and i thought to myself, why not make a 200bx sedan.

Now yes, i know the JBX mod exists, but to me, that's not really a 200bx, so i thought why not have a go at my own take of a 200bx sedan!

Now please note, i would see myself as a blender rookie, and this is my first ever time doing anything more then engine swaps, or cutting a few holes in some body panels, the following pictures will either have incredibly messed up textures, or a lot of shading issues might be visible, oh and how could I forget, the occasional driveshaft that defies the laws of physics, don't go too hard on me alright :D

No but seriously, if anyone has any sort of tips for modeling, that makes specific things easier, even if I already know about them, please let me know! I'm open to constructive criticism.

My initial plan was to purely only make a 4 door 200bx, which quickly spiraled out of control with an inline 5 engine based off of the i-series inline 6 getting fitted into the engine bay, with different models for each turbo option and in addition to that, a full, 1st gen Pessima interior swap.

EDIT: Forgot to mention before first posting, the wheel base has been extended by around 15-20 centimeters (6-8) inches would be my guess, it could be less or more I don't know exactly, however I can with confidence that it does not make the car handle any better, funnily enough in my personal experience, a normal 200bx, lowered and race tires on it, handled worse on a base BeamNG tune where legit nothing was touched in the tuning menu other then the height of the vehicle, doesn't mean it has more potential, just saying in my experience that the handling is by no means affected.

    First version!

yeah its not the greatest thing ever I will admit, and once i got it into game, i realized it looked disproportioned, seen by the fact that it looked more like a Grand Coupe, because the rear end was very high up compared to the front.

After accepting defeat and some not very motivating words from a great friend later saying, "you might have to remake it", i decided to go for it.

    Second and current version:

Utilizing blender select tool, i was able to get a general idea, of how even the rear was now, compared to the front, happy with the result, progress started to appear pretty quick.

Getting the proportions right, was a huge success, I was and still am very happy with how the side profile came out! The things I'm currently not happy with all too much, is the way I made the rear doors, and the roughness of the c pillars causing some pretty noticeable shading issues.

A certain design element, that is currently quite experimental, that is very heavily inspired by real life BMW M Sedans, would be the rear quarter panel/widebody kit.

    Here is a reference picture!

Notice how the rear quarter panel/widebody, clearly and aggressively protrudes outwards, because of the addition to the rear doors, whereas an E92 M3 has more of a graduate increase in width (google for reference if interested). This type of look is what i tried to make, and to my surprise, it worked better then expected!

In the picture above, you can clearly see what I mean by aggressive increase in width, maybe also because the shading seems a bit off, but you get my point, i personally love this idea and want to polish it out a lot more in the future.

As of right now, I'm by no means rushing this project, I want it to actually be good and take my time, I'm eager to find out what the community will think of this project of mine, and to anyone who actually took the time out of their lives to read up until now to understand my thought process and the build in its self, thank you!

I'm hoping to get this done in around 3 months realistically speaking, I hope whoever sees this like it, if not, well that's no big deal as you cant make something for everyone, anyway, I've typed way too much already, have a great rest of your day! :D

I really like the design, in my opinion this design looks better then a notchback or something like that

The 200bx isn't already a sedan, it's a coupe. Coupes are 2 door where as a sedan is 4 door.

Did you reduce the lenght of the front doors?

edit: I'm asking because to me it looks like you haven't touched them. Making front doors shorter will help with proportions since coupes have longer front doors and if you leave them as is you will have hard time making rear ones look good and the whole proportion look right

    It's getting really good, I can't wait.

I avoid commenting on MODs at this stage of development as much as possible, but as I don't know if you will pay attention to this detail, I would like to suggest a smoothing of that line.

Anyway, keep up the great work!

yes actually i did shorten the doors, and realizing now i also forgot to mention in my post that i did lengthen the wheel base by around half a wheel, which doesnt make it drive any worse to drive, its quite fun and surprisingly great.

just to let you know you did reply to the old version body/door, but it did make me look at my current one and some clean up work can be done for sure, thanks for pointing that out!

it does work with the 220bx mod, most of it at least, the only thing i can think of that might not work/ fit properly is the rear fenderflares

The thing to about that mod, is that it doesn't have engine mounts set up. The 220bx mod was made long before the engine mounts were implemented into BeamNG. So the engine isn't going to sit properly in the engine bay.
