Update Speculation thread

ill be honest i dont think they are trying to compete with well established racing games at the moment, considering its currently a beta release proof of concept vehicle physics simulator

in the future? likely yes, once we see an established career mode and other things, but for now im guessing they have their sights set on working at their own pace to keep on making the game better

and hopefully, the long silence was them finally taking a break from god knows how much work they had to do with fixing the bastion issues, god knows they earned at least a week off

i saw on the beamng discord that qa_stable got updated apparently! i have high hopes since:
last years update (wendover) came out march 29th
and 2 years ago (cherrier) it came out on april 8th
so we are definitely quite close.

The big things to look for are teasers and updates to creator program

 

But the devs did say they try to release teasers and updates at random times, to avoid hype

 

I would also note that it is April, only one or two months before the end of the school year in most countries. Especially without an update to keep them on, students from 5-22 are all more likely to study extra hard for those last few tests than play a game that's been the same since Christmas.

Qa_stable getting updated does not mean the update is coming soon.

 

it kinda does, considering that branch is basically a private version of the game for updates, so if it gets updated, that means the devs have a stable version to release to the public sometime in the nearish future

 

It was updated 1 or 2 months ago and nothing else happened.

 

But what I'm saying is it gets updated all the time. It doesn't mean the update is ready to public, it just means they have a stable verson.

Alright, hear me out.



This video turns 10 years old on May 28th.

Perhaps the update isn't going to come until late May because they have a big surprise planned for the 10 year anniversary? (and we haven't seen many teasers to avoid hype train?) Just a theory though.

 

I would not be surprised if they had a ten year anniversary something coming on May 28th, but weave for nearly two months til that point so it’ll be a while. That would kinda fit into the 6 month update schedule so a large update on that day would not be surprising.

 

Maybe the devs are just doing a social experiment here to find out how long it takes for people to go crazy over here because there's no update coming
