It's called Gaggle and after reading some about it I find this service to be very questionable. Gaggle has "saved a ton of lives" but the thing is it flags words in narratives, and poems. There is no way to opt out of this service and if you recieve a 2nd warning school administrators are notified but this is where I"m concerned because it could notify administrators for false positives. I decided to see there list of banned words. As you can see in the attached file it appears to flag the words lesbian queer and gay. I'm sure this is going to anger a lot of people out there. I also read that they charge schools upwards of 60k so I guess that's why my school is broke. Ok this shit pisses me off they don't flag any racial slurs.
:O:O:O:O YOUR GONNA GET IN TROUBLE OOOOOOOOH --- Post updated --- YO WAIT WHAT IF THERE'S A DUDE NAMED DICK AND THEY THINK THERE TALKING ABOUT THE OTHER THING
oooohhhh scarryyyyy --- Post updated --- same with balls like "what balls does the school have that we can play with"
tbh if I get in trouble imma just tell em. I have a right to privacy and all students should have an option to opt out of this
Us adults have a similar problem with Facebook. Sometimes you've just gotta invent your own words or use British slang or something. When I was at school, my classmates said stuff like bolts, fasi, lashed out, manus, hassle, bricks, shy bear and zapped. I'm still scratching my head over some of it, haha.
Honestly, that isn’t the worst part. If your school has a custom domain name in your email address, they can use Google Vault to LOOK IN YOUR FILES. Unfortunately, it is completely legal, they pay for the service while you don’t. There are worse things, though.
Our school has a system so the teachers can see our screens through an app. They also can close our tabs. This one teacher of mine closed out some of my school projects which is a total pain to get back. Once I was on the wrong tab and she locked my chromebook.
