It sort of works. While the configs do load none of them have a rear windshield. Nor can you add several parts from the Start such as the radio cover to the regular Sunburst. Selecting the Radio cover in the parts menu just displays the regular radio, for example. Less of a bugfix and more of a feature request would be to add the dashboard from the Start as an option to fit on the regular Sunburst, but then I'd just be nitpicking.
Poor good ol' Start is way beyond saving, being almost 6 years old, I could update the jbeams and call it a day, but the way I did things back then was also way amateurish, even having separate .dae files for every part, still using the old materials.cs file...so a full remaster is in the works. Will take a bit since it requires starting from almost scratch, but the progress is steady:
Good luck with remastering it, hope your work will be better than mine... which is not that good... nevermind, good luck to your remaster, again.
Thanks! I'm excited to see the great response to the reborn of the Start so far, things are definitely moving quickly (which doesn't mean rushed of course) and it's looking good: Yes, that's the Cherier I3 engine, adapted to the Sunburst/Start. The old I3 engine was the I4 unit with the mesh shortened to look like it had a cylinder less, so this is definitely universes away from that method. And I never guessed I could make the Start look cheaper...out with the black in the headlights! Looked way too good.
Wonder how the pigeon i3 would be in a sunburst, a bit of variety in 3 bangers also, the usual headlight pattern question from my end (i really wish every mod has it lmao )
Well, the headlight pattern is the same as the normal Sunburst (with yellow glow of course) but as for the engine...the new Super has 55 cv and does 0-100 km/h in 20 seconds, I think it's miserable enough
Something awaits approval... I'm quite glad of the final result, the mod is mainly as it was, but done this year instead of half a decade ago, the quality is definitely in a new level now. Well, the sounds are as you expect, the Diesel sounds like a Diesel, the Super sound awful...
JorgePinto updated Hirochi Start with a new update entry: 2022 Remaster Read the rest of this update entry...
Thanks! After all these years and all the mods I've done, specially the Jurassic Roamer and the Defender, remastering the Start was even easy to do, some small issues here and there, but not much. One thing still prevails of course, forgetting something, so I had to publish a hotfix since I forgot the engine bay details in the i3 1.2 version...
BTW, in a few days the following images will be 7 years old, the very first concept images (edited pics of a base Sunburst) of my vision for what would become the Start in February 2015, back then called Sunburst Access, I'm happy I eventually got the ability to make the vision as close as possible, and for sure by the time the Sunburst itself gets remastered by the devs, the Start will reborn yet again
wow..... so technicaly, Hirochi Start is even older if counting the development... neat! edit: and i think i also remember that this was the first mod i have installed to really fell in love with it, back then it was an interesting thing, and it's still interesting, so i really wish you all luck updating the mod, and searching stuff about it from the past.
Even after clearing the cache the most basic version has a problem. As soon as it appears on the map the engine breaks the valves and then shuts off. The exhaust sound is weird too. A pity, one of my favorite MODS.
Please perform a deep cleaning and delete any traces of previous versions, both i3 engines (including the Super) work fine to me.
