I was thinking how you guys can make this amazing project even better and I have a good idea....But it might kill FPS alot if you don't have a fast computer. Alright you guys know you have made the physics for cars/vehicles in this game but you can further that and use the physics on Buildings!! So if you crash into a building the building also takes realistic damage....Just be careful with the different types of material as bricks are not going to bend like metal... This will make it even more realistic and add depth to the game maybe in the future you may think of doing that....Add physics to the buildings..Genius! POST NO. 69 FTW....
There's no reason why not. Beam can be made into anything from Bridges to rockets, shipping containers, street signs, trees, cars and garden sheds. houses and things could work. Beam would be well suited to what is essentially a frame covered in boards when it comes to the wooden construction of American houses. Brick walls and things that are brittle like that could be more difficult. But the GeoMod engine might be something to look at and vaguely find a direction to go in. It appears to already work on a system of beams that calculate stress when you see their tech demo for Red Faction Guerilla. Seems to couple that with splitting meshes apart.
Link Plz to whoever put this topic on the forums, I looked around and I cant find anything that specifically says what I suggested.....
Many, many many thousands of times. I'm giving up expecting people to search. EDIT Here, http://www.beamng.com/threads/510-Wall http://www.beamng.com/threads/393-Crumbling-Brick-Walls http://www.beamng.com/threads/141-Deformable-damageable-structures
Yeah but im not suggesting what they are...I'm being a little more specific, Im sorry guys stop getting on me just because I don't do advanced searches before i post, geeesh....
Beams don't really work with thousand of crumpling/loose objects, such as bricks. I had this idea before anyway, didn't think it would work though.
Maybe ONLY guard rails would be cool, and not that heavy. because hitting a guard rail on a mountan can be fatal, it can detach and you can easily fall under the guard rail.
No, physics is only initatiated once something collides with the building. It's suspended in a "pause" state until a force interacts with the building.
