    Alrighty then.. hello!
Over the past month or so I had the typical ADHD moment of throwing myself into modding BeamNG again after quite some years. I've always liked the idea of homebuilding vehicles and so I came up with this buggy that I had designed in another game, Dream Car Builder, a long while ago I made this buggy for a competition in that game and since then kept working on it. And secretly, I love it! So I decided to also make a near-identical one for BeamNG.

Design is mine and I was inspired by those VW rail/dune buggies and by some YouTubers who have made similar buggies and crosskarts.

Pics of it in Dream Car builder:

I felt like I've made enough progress on it that I thought it'd finally be time for a thread, so here it is:

    • Custom models and JBeam and reuse of existing parts: suspension, engine, gauges, headlights, etc
    • Powered by the Wigeon/Pigeon engines; the i3 660cc and i4 1300cc AND the Piccolina engines!
    • Adjustable fenders
    • Fender mounted or bumper mounted taillights & license plates
    • Roofbar with lights
    • 3 and 4 wheeler variants

Thanks! It's quite simple and wasn't really that time consuming....excluding figuring things out, my stupidity and mistakes lol

I've gotta close up some tubes, neaten up some stuff and redo the panels, other than that the model is mostly done

That's a really neat model ! The only things i see is that the panel could maybe be subdivided so that they can bend better, and the front headlights are horribly high poly.

Eh, no. Like I said, I've gotta redo the panels, but I won't make them higher poly. The headlights are fine, but I'll be making my own at some point

I mean, I've got some configs planned for this, including something like a crosskart..

Decided to give driving with wheel 'n pedals a go, so far FFB seems fine to me!
Chucked the Piccolina mirrors on it and made brackets to mount them. I think it works well.
    Towhitch!

Cleaned up some Jbeam shenanigans and made 3 lug hubs work
    ---
Crosskart config w.i.p. Very barebones config with just the essentials, bumpers and panelling. 1300cc engine!
If only the variety of tires was as large on ANY lug and rim size... I'd like to throw slightly bigger rims and tires on the back.

    ---
Also did some work on cleaning up the model and closing up gaps. I'm not going for anything fancy as I'd like to keep this thing simple, so that'll probably mean I won't AO bake or do any Normals stuff, like welds..

    speaking of;
Should I rename this to something like 'Simple Buggy' instead of 'Compact Buggy'? Since it's not really that 'compact' and my aim is to keep this simple..
    ---
    Current configs!
(ignore cavecrawler, that's just a personal use config)

cool! a dune buggy with really thin front tires and fat rear tires and removed fenders would be cool

I don't know what it is about the buggy, but I already love it without even driving it :p

Looks impressive, I just hope you can get this up and running should be fun to see what mods you will allow for it, Stage 3 Variable Boost Turbo on a 1300cc engine should be interesting :p
