Encountered an issue with the UI Apps customisation, the top and bottom bars prevent Apps from being positioned along the top and bottom of the screen, leaving unusable screen space. Also, as the Engine Thermal Debug App by default is long enough to be cut off by the bottom of the screen, it now cannot be pulled up to access the resize option.
Would it be possible to implement a forced UI scale feature? The default size of the UI has bugged me for quite a while, though I used to just scale down the UI apps manually. The recent UI overhaul has brought this to my attention, so I may as well mention it now. I'm running the game on a 1366x768 screen, and you can see the tacho with a boost gauge takes up probably 1/8th of the entire screen, info boxes are squashed against the bounds of the screen, causing text wrapping unnecessarily, the scenario description even requires a scrollbar to fit all of the text, all while the text itself could easily remain legible at a third of the size. I'd be satisfied if everything were scalable down to 50% of its current size.
this, 100% specially when the UI rescale bug was present, and i had to reduce the scale, it took forever, the UI is waay too big when stock
Another thing to add to that.. I run triples and my menus span across my 3 displays with excessive sized tiles vs the old UI which still spanned across the 3 but didnt scale the tiles as much. thankfully my vertical resolution isn't that low so i don't have much of an issue with the driving UI. Some games roll in the ability to isolate the UI to the main screen as part of the scaling and it works great when implemented right. (Check out LFS's implementation), but ive seen quite a few games that dont bother much with odd display sizes and just 'send it'. The multi monitor feature is still not working (forces an extremely low FOV right now), im fine without it.
Actually even I find the new UI click sound has started to get annoying. I think it was better in the previous sub-versions of 0.24. It's the ending of the sound that has a weird distorted echo-like sound.
Parts selector is ridiculously spread out on mods that have both lots of slots and long slot names. Takes a lot longer to scroll to the bottom. Worked fine before 0.24.1.1.
Engine thremal debug cant be resized. Arrow to resize is below the screen and it cant be moved up or down due to how tall it is.
Whose idea was it to make the vehicle selector and map menu all huge and grossly overscaled? Not to be all that negative, but I gotta be because it looks utterly abominable on my ultrawide, and is more fit for a touchscreen than my now-dwarfed cursor. Don't fix what ain't broke..... This just hurts to looks at. On a side note, I have the last DirectX 9 version of BeamNG.Drive from 2015 saved and the vehicle selector there looked similar. So whose idea was it to basically revert it to a six-year-old design? Hahaha Putting this here because I don't really see any option to scale it back down at all.
The new 3D Overview Map is awesome. I wasnt even aware that you can click anywhere on it and it calculates a navigation route to the destination. Really nice. Even cooler would be that it not only displays the navigation to the for example time trial but also - maybe in a second phase - displays the route of the selectes time trial/scenario. Thank you for consideration.
It's a simple problem In the existing UI, adjusting the RPM of the TWO-STEP setting showed the set RPM, but in the new ui, I can't see how many RPM I set. This is because the new UI horizontal bar was located at the location of the existing RPM display UI.
There's a bug in the US East Coast thumbnails. The highway spawn position shows a screenshot of the suburban area.
Encountering this too my friend. Just when I started coming around to this new UI too. DEVS, PLEASE FIX THIS, IT IS SUPER ANNOYING!!!! Still not sure why this hasn't gotten a goddamn toggle switch. Devs, how hard is an "on/off" toggle for this annoyance? Come on!
The huge car thumbnails in the car selection menu are not really useful. I have to scroll a ton to get to what I want, it's really detrimental to usability. Strangely the regular small icons come back when selecting configurations. I want the small icons across the board.
I'm not sure what happened but suddenly after launching the game today the UI has rescaled and appears huge, no settings were changed
This has been subsequently implemented since they made that post. You can adjust practically every sound in the game now. You'll find this under Options>Audio>Volume>User Interface.
Please add a option to the old ai please (or at least the black background for the cars on the car selection)
I remember in one update where the car selector would show more then 4 cars next to each other. Since its gone I'm presuming it was a bug, but it was really my favorite UI "feature". Maybe instead of selecting one way the UI should scale, it could be a slider or general value with customization.
