I understand, but you can always just say that it's against the rules, and therefore it isn't your choice.
That website isn’t they just steal mods and if you avoid external downloads it’s fine is what I’ve read
Well some people aren't that smart (the majority of 12 year olds that play beam), and so sending them off to that site with 30 different "download" buttons is like sending a toddler into a cornmaze. Also, stealing mods is very uncool, along with the website owners and reuploaders getting money per click.
*VISABLE FUSTRATION* --- Post updated --- Like I would of never brought it up if I knew EVERYONE wants it
Sheesh one person is trying to be nice by allowing people to download a mod that isn't even around anymore, but no, some users just have to scold the user for it. I don't understand why users have to criticize and judge others for doing something nice which they didn't have to do.
I get that he was trying to be nice but putting a link to a website that is infamous to be full of trojans wasn't the smartest idea, it was risking the security of the people who asked And besides, that mod is broken anyway
I realize that Russian websites are sketchy, but the users didn't seem to concerned about their computers being risked. They seem more concerned about the fact that the user gave other users someone's mod without the modder's permission. Tbh, the modder long abandoned the mod, so why they would criticize the user giving away someone else's mod is stupid. And I downloaded a BTR-80 mod for beamng drive from a Russian website and it worked pretty fine. I checked my entire computer system and nothing seemed to be off and it's been about 3 years now since I got that mod.
It's pretty rare that someone gets a virus from these sites it looks like, but it can happen. The biggest problem is that the creator of the mod removed it from the repo, because it was broken and he didn't want anybody to download it. (I think). So downloading it from there is disrespectful to the original author, it gives money to those mods stealers, and you still risk a virus.
Regarding the virus risks, it's not disrespectful to the original author when the original author is not even doing anything with it anymore. It's the person downloading the content whether they want to risk a broken mod or not. Besides, the author should have damn well known people would still have the mod. Hell, I still have the mod. I could give it out as I please. Now if the person posting the mod was making money off of it, then it's disrespectful. The author never said no one couldn't repost the mod. As long as proper credit is given and no money is made off of it, then reposting it on the repo was fine. And manually downloaded mods are going to obviously be reposted because the downloaders have complete access to them and can even change the contents without any consequence, so long as the repurposed mod doesn't get posted publicly.
Yeah you're right, but take a look at LucasBE's delorean mod: he abandoned the BTTF version and don't want anybody doing things with it. I'm not saying the guy who made the technical mod didn't want that, and if he isn't active anymore then it's ok, but if the member is active you should always ask permission. Anyways this is an outdated mod so no point in arguing.
