ok then, is a torana SLR a pony car? what about a falcon sprint? an Aspen R/T? a Firenza Can-Am?
Are the modern camaro, mustang, and challenger pony cars, or not? If not, when exactly did each of them transform from "pony" to "muscle" cars?
but if they still are pony cars, how is a charger considered a muscle car, when compared to a challenger the only difference is about 90mm more in the wheelbase?
Or, get this: they're stupid, fuzzy, ambiguous marketing terms, probably devised for one specific generation of one specific model, and trying to come up with a fine line for what is and what isn't in that category will always devolve into mindless arguments about completely arbitrarily written dictionary definitions.

To me, a pony car is something fairly small (by American standards at least), fast, simple and RWD. So yes, a Torana or anything along those lines as a pony car

    More ranting...

I use to think a significant number of drivers on the roads are stupid. I don't think that any more. They are homicidal toddlers.

Last week my dad's van got clipped by a guy who ran a residential road red light at highway speeds at 6am. What was the only thing on the other driver's mind? How he was late to work. Didn't try to deny running the red, just acted like being late for work justified it all.

Nearly once a week I see drivers overtaking in oncoming lanes on main street. Making lefts from the right lane, going straight from the shoulder and cutting off everyone in the left turn lane, etc... Most of my commute is within sight of someone weaving in and out of traffic coming within inches of cars, or just going back and forth between the lanes like it's a game of pong.

What is it about driving in rush hour that makes everyone into a weapons grade idiot?

So I wonder, if you took an old car, like 1970s or older, back to the dealer, and you just told them your tires were worn out and you needed a new set, what would they recommend? Or would they just point you at a local tire shop or a reproduction supplier?

They would probably just put on whatever radials that fit on it. Or maybe order tires if you are a good customer of theirs.

Its been a while since I've been here. I've been working on the cars a lot. The Regal is getting put on the backburner for a short time, as I've decided to completely fix it and even upgrade some things so I've started working on getting the Suburban to daily-able condition.

For now, all I've really done to it are swap the old composite headlights over to sealed beams.
During the swap they worked great:

After I put the fascia back on the driver's side stopped working, but I do like the look of them.

I just need to find the pinched wire and buy another low beam

What is with all the hate on the new integra? Manual, LSD, CSi engine, hatchback, nice interior, what more could you want? Integras have always been upgraded civics, type S is coming with (probably) CTR mill, whats with all the hate?

Just looking at that picture, I have a few ideas. Doofy modern Acura styling, weird 4/5-door fastback because they won't do a 3-door and proper notchbacks aren't allowed anymore, too big and too heavy just like every other modern "compact" car. In short, it looks more like a 4-dOoR cOuPe version of a TSX than it does an Integra. If it was the size and shape of the DC2, it'd probably be a lot more popular.

If it wete 2/3 door, it would have to compete with the GR86, which is RWD, and it would have no chance. Still, the Integra was, at best, a sportier, better looking civic. It changed with the civic.

So my new truck I just bought is completely weird according to the internet.

    It's a 2000 F-150 7700.

The 7700 is what was referred to as a "heavy-half ton" and was introduced as a way around certain taxes. It's an F-150 with a thicker frame, Super-Duty 4r100 transmission, heavy duty cooling, heavy duty transmission cooler, 3.73 (optional 4.10) limited slip, 10.25" Super-Duty rear end, Super-Duty leaf springs, Super-Duty brakes front and rear, stiffer front torsion bars, 7-lug hubs, and a big bore master cylinder out of an Excursion. It was originally badged as the F-250 LD in 1998 as the new re-designed Super-Duty was being released. It sat between the standard F-150 and new F-250 in terms of price and capability.

It was built on the Super-Duty line along side F-250 and F-350 models in Kentucky. Supposedly the standard F-150 lines in either Dearborn, MI or Kansas City, MO could not be fitted to build these trucks since they were so different.

So yeah, weird. I've also been being wished luck on finding brakes for it. I'm beginning to figure out why now, lol.

Those 7-lug pickups have always intrigued me. Specifically, can you even find aftermarket wheels for those?

so in other words, its weight/load capacity ratio is closer to a hilux/courier/navara,etc?

Contrary to popular belief, both gas cars and electric cars are powered by chemical energy. Keep in mind that electricity itself cannot be stored, it has to be converted to other form first, then store. The "electricity" in batteries are actually chemical energy. During discharging, the chemical reaction in the battery converts chemical energy to electricity. During charging, the chemical reaction is reversed, converting electricity to chemical energy.
In an ICEV, the "accumulator" is the fuel tank and both the "reactor" and the "prime mover" are the engine. In an EV, both the "accumulator" and the "reactor" are the battery and the "prime mover" is the electric motor. Thus
EV advantage: by placing the "accumulator" and "reactor" together, the (electrochemical)reaction is quite simple and can be easily reversed, charging and discharging are almost the same easy. The simplicity of the prime mover also enables the manufacture to put more than one prime movers in a vehicle. Combustion process on the other hand, is exergonic i.e. irreversible, nonrenewable.
ICEV advantage: by placing the "reactor" and "prime mover" together, the cooling system can take advantage of the flow of the working fluid, which makes the reactor high power density as the result of high cooling capacity. The reaction temperature can't affect the accumulator since the reactor is distant away from the accumulator, not to mention no chemical reaction occurs during the refueling process.
Note: Fossil fuel is a nonrenewable energy, which is a known fact, most people understand this. However, most people don't know the fundamental difference of the energy-power structure between ICEV and EV, thus unable to understand why charging an EV can never ever be as fast as refueling an ICEV. In addition, it is unfair to say electric motor has higher power density than internal-combustion engine, since the former only takes the role of prime mover but the latter takes the role of both prime mover and reactor.
