Update Speculation thread

I mean, Cliff will probably get deprecated and removed (and put on the repository), like DRI and the old GridMap before it gets a remaster. Don't get me wrong, I love the Cliff map, but like I said before, there is really nothing to improve on it with. The entire point of the map is just to chuck your car off a Cliff. Also, can we just admit that nobody really uses the Cliff map? As there is basically nothing to do there. It was fun back in the old days of 0.3, but now that we have Italy and WCUSA, we have become spoiled and pretty much forgotten about Cliff. The ETK Driver Experience Center is really in need of a remaster. However, it too is probably never going to be remastered, as there is, again, nothing to really improve on. Sure, it could get larger and get more things, but again, nobody really uses it on a regular basis. I would speculate that it would probably be replaced with a German city map that just so happens to host a Driver Training Center owned by a car manufacturer. WCUSA will probably get a full remaster in the near future. B25Mitch did say that originally, there was a San Amaro on the map, but that due to performance issues, it was cut in an unofficial video. Will it come back in the remaster? Probably not, but hey, I can dream right?

 

I still use and enjoy Both ETK and cliff LOL

I wonder what other small things they will add to other maps if any in the 2022 year

I agree with you for the ETK center : it's probably better to have a brand new map made from scratch, but with the same spirit (like new grid map : a totally different and improved map, but with a similar spirit as the old one).
For the Cliffs, I do think that it can be improved with maybe some jumps, some paths/roads, better textures... In order to make it more enjoyable !

I would actually like to see some news about new additions to the physic engine and see what is planned next. It gives me the most immersion each update to test smthg new on each vehicle.

Agreed, but with the old map still available in the repository, for low-specs users

 

A Germany map could be really cool. There's tons of potential for Germany as a map because there's so much stuff that would be perfect for a car game. There's the N-Ring, the Autobahn, scenic drives, and more. Definitely could see it coming..

 

Would be too similar to East Coast, USA IMHO. Australia would be a much more likely choice for the next map.

 

Australia is more similar to Utah than East Coast to Germany.

 

If they did hypothetically make an "Australia" map and they wasted its potential by setting it in the "Outback", I would be so annoyed.

But more like a complete remaster that include the old ETK center in it, instead of a revamp of ETK center map.
For integrate an autobahn, the map needs to be bigger (between 4km² and 16km², to fit standards map size)

Not at all.
The terrain can be have some little similarities, that true.
But the road (signalisation, road shape and size, authobhan, toll that not exist in usa), city architecture and plan, vegetation, and a lot of other details and atmosphere in general, all is completely different.
And I don't thinks that ETK center is near of the sea.

On other side, a second European map would be a nice addition in term of diversity, because there are so many different biomes than can be not shown in Italy map (that which looks a lot like the south of France in my opinion^^)
Also, Germany can be have some similarity with Poland and some other Eastern Euro countries, and I think that can satisfy a part of Beamng community
