As far as a name goes, you could fly close to the sun and call it La Camina.

Or you could translate "little truck" (El Camino) into a completely different language. Esperanto is promising: Malgranda Kamiono

Translating into a different language sounds nice. Interestingly enough, Google Translate tells me that "El Camino" means "the way" (then again, I know that certain words can have multiple meanings), in Esperanto that would be "La Vojo".

Even if it's not a translation of the same phrase, I think a foreign word à la El Camino would be fitting.

Because lately I've been reading a bit about Mesoamerican mythology and religion... "Coatl"? Or take something from Hawaiian and "Hi'iaka"? Both are okay-ish to me, not particularly outstanding. I've never been much good at names.

Thank you for the pictures of the Barstow ute. How would you like me to react to it? Because currently I struggle to understand why you put it here without explanation.

 

I think Portuguese could also be a viable avenue as they border with Spain and culturally have shared quite a bit in common.

There's also the fact the Ranchero was named with a theme in mind, so something like "Vaquero" could work well as a name.

Okay fellas, back on track.

Portuguese for "El Camino" appears to be "O Caminho". That's fairly close, but doesn't sound quite as nice, although a different word in Portuguese might be suitable. Unfortunately I am a little out of my depth here as the only thing I remember from year-5 Spanish class was how much the teacher loved his Seat Leon (and I've never learnt Portuguese).
I do think it's better to use a word from a Western language because of the familiarity it would have.

One name that I rather like is "Melmoth" - I remember a fictional automotive brand of that name in a Nabokov novel, apparently it has biblical significance (then again, there isn't a single sentence by Nabokov that doesn't involve symbolism, so what the hell) but I thought it sounded neat.

 

In that case, then I think sticking with the themed name concept would be the next best thing. Maybe an animal name could work as well?

 

I would've thought naming it would be the easiest part...

"Gavril Sol Buscador?"

Just take two English words; one big, one small, translate to Spanish and boom! You've just named a car. It's literally how GM did it back in the day, how do you think they made a car called a "No Go"?

 

GM, or any car company, wouldnt want to paint their new car in a bad way, like in the nova. maybe they were referring to a supernova or something

 

By how the Bluebuck Ute looks so far, you should try naming it something related to the Ranchero.

 

But the bluebuck looks more like an Impala than the falcon front in that pic

 

Maybe Bantam as a name?
