Hiya everyone, do people that create mods use the models for stuff like springs, brakes, steering arms etc. from the game (from other cars), or do they create them from scratch? I'm new to modding so I wouldn't know. Thanks in advance!

Brakes yes, the vanilla brake models have wheel hub lug patterns compatible with wheel models so it's a good idea to use them instead of making your own ones. About the other stuff I have no idea, but I assume no because almost every car has unique suspension design, at best the spring Jbeam values could be used as a base for your custom springs, and you could learn how to make other suspension components by looking how they are done in vanilla cars.

It depends. If the part is similiar enough to one that is already in game & it wouldn't need to be modified much, then you would be better off using it instead of wasting time on creating your own when the difference in the models will be something like a different spring colour for the suspension etc. If you are creating something that is rather unique & no in-game vehicle fits it, then you can either take it from the game & modify accordingly to save time OR make your own from the ground-up.
