Update Speculation thread

I too would love to see a two-stroke in BeamNG! It would be perfect in something along the lines of the Saab 93/96, DKW F89/F91/F93/3=6, IFA F9 or Wartburg 311/312/353 although the smaller two-strokes like the IFA F8, Trabant 500/600/601 or Saab 92 are also great!

It is possible that it would receive an electric motor version many of these cars that were made during the oil crisis had also an electric version typically painfully slow, but it would add another level to that car, and it would also enable some quite crazy modifications.

 

I'm not so sure such a cheap/simple car would get many factory options, but there's certainly a lot of fun aftermarket options. Superbike motors and modern electric swaps both sound fun for cheap track toy configs.

 

if there's going to be a twostroke engine, there should be different porting configurations. for example, high or low rev, agressive powerband, or a wide powerband.

 

A low revving two-stroke would be utterly pointless

 

maybe it's a quick update or a big remaster of something with a new car

and different fuel to oil ratios after all early 50s cars still used ratio of about 1:25 (1:20 when running in) later during 60s the standard ratio became something between 1:33 and 1:40 and by the late 70s the 1:50 became common. Also, the quality of oil should be taken into consideration. Wartburg which would use modern two-stroke oil at ratio of about 1:50 doesn’t produce much smoke but when something like our classic M2T oil is used (produced since 1969 and it is still the same oil) and mixed at a 1:33 ratio then there is a nice thick smoke coming out of the exhaust when the engine is cold.

Wartburgs weren’t high revvers anything above about 4750 rpm was pointless only thing that was increasing at that point was the fuel consumption and the already high noise level in the cabin, not the power.

Wartburg isn’t actually that bad, I mean the engine mostly annoys the surrounding areas not you, well unless you’re trying to drive at 125 km/h for 2 hours straight because after that your ears are probably bleeding. Otherwise, it’s a spacious car with very good comfort especially when loaded, the handling is quite good too.

 

Forgive me, but while I will admit the 0-62 of 15 seconds (supposedly) is quite impressive, an American family could afford a Ford LTD Crown Vic, lugging 2 tons to 60 in 10.2 sec (again, supposedly), with a top speed of 112 mph...

Speaking of that, wasn't there some speculation on a few Grand Marshall generations, or am I completely wrong?

Yeah, but during the same time you also could get a Chevrolet Chevette 1.8 L diesel with 0-100 kph of 24.4 seconds (not sure about that, the Pontiac 1000, a badge engineered Chevy Chevette was measure at 0- 60 mph time of 30 seconds!) or if you want something bigger, Chevy Impala 4,.4 L with 0- 100 kph time of 18.9 s. Plus in Europe LTDs fuel consumption of around 18.8 litres per 100 km would be prohibitively expensive.

Remember that the cheapest Ford Escort of that time had a 1.1 litre engine that produced 50 HP (same as Wartburg) and had a 0- 100 time of 17.7 s and a top speed of 142 kph (at least that's what the manufacture said)

Also, to answer the question of speed of the Wartburg, tests from that time show a 0-100 of about 20s, there is a lot of wheelspin caused by the light front end.

If you wanted a fast car behind the iron curtain (at least in Czechoslovakia) you’d either try to get something from the west or bought yourself a Lada 1600, which had 78 HP and a top speed of 155 kph (although most people I know who owned one say that 160 kph+ was possible but it took a long time)

If you wanted economy but didn’t really care about the speed, you’d get a Škoda 105 L or a Dacia 1300 both being quite economical.

About the Grand Marshal, I don’t remember there being any actual news about it but then my memory isn’t the best.

 

I guess that's fair, especially comparing it to the Escort, which had huge sales.

Realy Nice drawing looks great

(but i wouldnt buy it (because of several reasons) without an Real and reliable easy and cheap to maintain by myselve an Engine that gives you a long milage and is able te reach more than 7 years live span ;D (and actauly makes fun with an classic engine sound and gear shifts) and on the economical side synhetic and bio fuel as fuel ;D so literaly all that what a reliant robbin had you dont need more car )

 

The Pigeon will most likely be reworked/remastered to fit the modern modeling standards of the Widgeon

I really like the Ibishu Wigeon design but the biggest problem for me is that the steering wheel is on the right side (I know it fits the brand but still). Guess I will need to wait for a (probably lower quality) mod that switches the interior
I just cannot enjoy driving in first person when the wheel is on the right side. It just feels too unfamiliar.

And to those who think the last update was underwhelming:
You know that the devs are also working on other stuff like the career mode? And each update is extremely high quality.
Just enjoy the new, free content the game gets with each update.

Agreed with that last bit. I have a feeling the next update will have major technical improvements as well as a new gridmap, so we're especially lucky to be getting a new vehicle as well!
