Well, looking at this picture, the side mounting point basically ceates a "folding" point for the leaf springs.

Also, if it isn't exacly the same behavior from a Double wishbone, it is REALLY close.

I didn't realise the points were THIS close to the wheels... That explains a lot, I know now how it doesn't wobble back and forth. In this case, it really is close to a double wishbone, except the lower arm is less rigid and acts as the spring itself... Interesting

The spring also acts as a natural anti roll bar.

It acts a bit differently, but I don’t know how hard it would be to model these differences. For instance, during hard cornering the leaf spring flexis and allows the wheel to change camber drastically, it can be seen on this late 30s Škoda Popular. It also flexes front and back and has to be a quite stiff to provide appropriate road holding.

So the front and back flexing is normal? Because LucasBE ultimately had no idea how to fix it, it can stay then?

As someone that works with suspension desing, that image made me feel really unconfortable.

The front and back flex is normal, it shouldn’t be severe, but some flex is standard feature of this type of suspension and in can be seen on all car that used this style of suspension.

It could, but it's another variable that you have no control over. adding a invisible lower arm not so rigid, maybe will help you to control and understand those movements

That's exactly what I had in mind, I'll try it tomorrow

It looks really horrible but then this is a 30s style central European suspension (used by many Manufacturers: Škoda, Tatra, Mercedes, DKW, Adler, BMW, Horch and many more) also the Maluch’s suspension doesn’t change camber even nearly as much because the Škoda allows almost a complete half of the spring to flex whilst the Maluch only a small part.

Here you can see how most of the Central European manufactures did it, with the spring attached only in the middle allowing massive flex but also minimalizing the chance of the spring braking whilst driving on bad roads (for which Central Europe was famous at that time, probably also reason why so many cars made here during that time had our wheel independent suspension.

So the suspension I made is 30s style... That's so outdated lol I need to make a "flexible double wishbone" instead
I might leave this one in the mod too and call it the 30s style leaf spring lol

Well, here in Brazil, we did't have those cars, so the "worst" suspension design that we had here was in the VW Beetle suspension. Compared to those, the Beetle has a really well designed suspension (geometry wise).

Actually, you can get that type of suspension flex in any car, you only need to have worn out bushes, or too soft ones on the lower arms mounting points.

The Beetle's suspension was actually designed with that in mind. Ferdinand Porsche (a quiz questing; which country did Porsche come from, without looking it up.) was worried that if he'd put such a suspension into a rear engined car it would either have to be too stiff or it would have too mux flex. There was also the solution used by the bigger Škoda Superb which literary was a double wishbone that used a leaf spring only as a spring but that was only on bigger cars.

    Here on the Škoda Superb

Other manufactures like Tatra or Mercedes-Benz just didn't care and put double leaf spring parallelograms on their rear engine cars.

Tatra (600 Tatraplan in this case)

    Mercedes-Benz 130

So this is my new suspension design that solves the problem of the leaf spring wobbling back and forth:
    SDASDD.png
Orange are stiff and mounted to the body, red are a bit flexible. Maybe LucasBE will be able to tune this one easier.

Well, I'd suggest you to add those "lower arms" to the spring part, so, a soft spring would get a pair of "soft" lower arms, and the race spring would get a pair of "non deformable" lower ams (as rigid as the upper arms).

The red ones are basically lower arms but much wider, less stiff and connected to 2 parts. So stiffening them in theory should work as stiffening both the "springs" and the "arms" which would improve handling at high speed but ruin the drivability on less smooth roads, so mostly like race suspension.

Still need help, it possibly requires redoing the whole suspension from scratch including the model. Can't do this myself, this is way too complex.
