RoR was essentially BeamNG's predecessor, it came out in 2007 (I think). I can't recall exactly who but a decent amount of Beam's team members worked on it as well, and the brand Gavril is originally from RoR too.

I haven't played it in a year but it should still work, but it does show its age quite a bit. The main differences I can name off the top of my head are:

-The ability to walk around as a person

-It has some real-life cars as base content (I think)

-As mentioned before, it has Gavril, but none of the Gavrils from Beam, and none of RoR's Gavrils are in Beam (although some people have tried/are trying to mod them into the game)

You said everything right, the only thing is that it released in 2005.

I do, hence my username, I made quite a few mods for RoR back in the day. The long lost Wheelson trucks, Pacific Motors cars and trucks, and Various others, mostly modelled in Google Sketchup... (I know, wasn't the greatest modelling program).

I know that this is a kinda weird question, but is it possible to import cars from RoR to Beamng Drive?

It's possible but a lengthy process to import the models (plus my models from then were not very good). It's probably best a new jbeam be made for any imported mods.

Not everyone is familiar with the game before they start playing, don't be ignorant

I am aware that the current team doesn't mention the Rigs of Rods as an ancestor anywhere on the front pages.

The only hint you can get of Rigs of Rods is in the credits of BeamNG. The person named Pricorde is the person responsible for theorizing and applying the Nodes/Beams theorem and creating the first versions of RoR.

From the point where the original team left the development of RoR, a new team came in and fixed a ton of broken things from the older teams. RoR is now in a completely playable state but still being updated for a couple of bugs there and there and bringing new features. The RoR is a cool place to hang out and is not as crowded as Beam is.

The game came out when I was a kid but I never really heard about it until ~2012. At that point BeamNG was nearly about to come out so I just didn’t use ror. I’ve played it a bit but BeamNG is a lot better. If only we could port some of Gabe’s cars and remaster them.

Rigs of Rods, made some weird stuff for that years ago.
Talking about RoR, BeamNG's 1st video says from the team behind Rigs of Rods: Is Pricorde involved in BeamNG?

You could technically say that Pricorde provided the fundamentals of the node/beam physics theorem and such.

I have been playing RoR since the beginning, was searching for good off road games when i discovered RoR and 1nsane. As far as i can remember RoR was more focused on big trucks and heavy machinery so small cars was a bit buggy early on.

RoR is showing it's age but there are a few tings that is much better in RoR, towing, winching and lifting are really well implemented and i would love to see these functions in BeamNG as well.

I still play RoR from time to time and there are a lot of great mods for the game.

I remember Spring Break 2011, where I played RoR for like 10 hours a day, every day of the week. I specifically remember trying to shoo my little sister and her friends out of the computer room so I could play with the Chevy Silverado vehicle mod on the Desert Highway map mod without them teasing me for playing a "boring game".

Good times, though it came at the cost of having to do all my homework assignments on Sunday before the break was over (though that was as per usual).

RoR is insanely hard to drive on. Driving in a straight line with a fast car like I can’t remember the name but the v12 super car gabester made is harder than dark souls. Driving any sort of quick car is a pain in the ass. Game has had some small updates over the years and with 4.08 I can finally run it on my pc ok and not get 12 FPS. Mod quality varies widely from shitty cars that don’t deform at all and just glitch out and go into space if you touch a wall. To cars with ok models but crash like a beamng mesh slap, to cars that are really good high quality like gabesters cars and box 5’s trucks. Planes suck ass they all are shit models and turn into a glitchy mess when wrecked. There’s only one quality plane. Water physics are way more advanced than beam like way more. Rigs of rods destroys beam when it comes to water physics. This Provo makes no sense but it’s 4 in the morning and I’m still awake and I can’t think good.
