There's more information about how to fix it in the support channel for the BeamNG discord.

Well "every" was an exaggeration, it only seems to be 22.0.1 and later, not 22.0, mine worked last night fine,

I am 100% positive that it is, a false positive. Although, my PC (windows defender enabled) has not stopped the game from running.
My only idea is to disable the antivirus, and just be smart online when it comes to odd links and such. I also heavily doubt someone could've hacked something. I could easily be wrong.

I also received a warning about "Trojan:Win32/Zpevdo.B". However I am still able to still play the game. I am assuming that you all have defaulted Windows security settings which is probably auto quarantining or deleting the "infected" beamng.exe file. Go to "protection history" in the virus protection options in under Windows security and try restoring the file. There should literally be a single button to restore whatever was removed. Super easy no reinstalls or anything crazy should be needed. I am just glad it seems to be the update and not one of the MODS I installed yesterday. Should be "fixed" soon.

That's what I was thinking, I don't know how steam distributes game files for install, but it seems that this has only come around since this afternoon (GMT), I didn't see if there was a micro update either, since of course I can't launch my game.

Also, you said you got your game running, what version does it say it is on?

How do you mean by this, if you mean the potential "false trojan" that will have to be fixed by devs.

I'm pretty sure it said 22.0.1, I am using my laptop right now, won't be able to check for a while.

I FOUND A FIX! when you open windows defender let it allow the file on your device and launch the game

    My copy works.
Mine works. Its "Alpha v0.22.0.1" To be clear I did not get the virus message until this morning, I played the new update yesterday and never got a warning.

Yeah, until the Devs fix the issue, this is probably the only solution along with disabling the antivirus for people who have the problem.

Edit: I don't think after gaining for much trust, the devs would put in a trojan. It would be kinda stupid.

It would probably kill most of the community. And it would be news probably.

Its impossible to help if we don't even know what Anit-Virus you use. You cant fix it unless you know what deleted the program or it will be re deleted... Was it Windows Defender? You should almost always be able to undo or restore a file deletion. If you are desperate and dont want to figure it out just disable all AV and reinstall or use Steam to try and fix the damaged or missing files. in this case I think it would work. Steam should see that the main .exe is missing as simply re download it.

I used VirusTotal to scan the 0.22 game executable, and I can conclude it's a false-positive. 8 of them, including Microsoft Defender (which is what I am using), BitDefender, and McAfee believed the file is malicious; other antivirus programs like Avast, Malwarebytes, Kaspersky, F-Secure, and Norton did not detect anything.

I can assume it's due to some of the code within the executable file that triggered the false-positive. As far as I know, the developers are aware of the issue and are currently resolving it.

The fix we have come to on the discord is that you temporarily disable your antivirus and exlude the BeamNG.Drive Folder and reinstall the missing file
