I mean, currently none of the default vehicles actually do this. It's a request for changes to be made so they do that.
Windshields dont really break other than the glass texture changing (from what ive noticed) they just change shape. In one particularly nasty accident, i managed to stretch the windshield most of the length of the D15. It doesnt bother me whatsoever though.
The front windshield shouldn't be pierced unless it is hit by a pole or something that will go through it which it sounds like you guys are on board with. The other windows however should break into one billion pieces. Now I'm not saying all one billion need to appear on the ground after the crash but some of them should. Ha.
Well I'd say fix the pillars stretching before worrying about the glass lol. Real sheet metal structures don't stretch that far, they tear or just buckle and fold out of the way.
No sir, I saw the subject matter at hand and deliberately drove it into the ramp to make the point. That ramp is really good for that. - - - Updated - - - The realism that glass, smoke and debris adds to a car wreck is just indisputable. Getting that to run smoothly in beamng will get someone a Nobel Prize. I figure at the least a hokey scheme involving the particle system could be a start??.
And while your at it, add a nice glass crunching sound. I have seen and been in crashes and you simply dont forget the sound. If it could be done correctly in this game it would be a great immersive feature.
Right now, all of the sounds in BNG are placeholders. Just default sounds in the game engine. All of the sounds will be completely overhauled and replaced by the devs, but currently there are more important things at hand. I for one cant wait until the sounds are upgraded
It would be interesting to have the glass be a separate part of the JBeam (in my opinion), set up so that the beams making up the windshield remain the same length. Then, the metal around it can stretch, but the windshield simply collapses or falls off like safety glass would (I think). If I'm completely wrong about this, don't kill me.
