Algonquin Off the heels of all the 3D Universe maps comes GTA IV's Liberty City, ported to BeamNG. This is a direct port of Algonquin, the largest borough in Liberty City, based on Manhattan. I don't plan to port the other boroughs at this time. Please be aware that this project will take a very long time. Currently about 70% of the map is ported, but that's not counting props—trees, lampposts, newspaper boxes, fences, road blocks, etc., all of those have to be added, and that process alone will take a long time. This map will not be released anytime soon. The reason I made this thread now, and not upon release, was so that I could have one place to share development progress and screenshots. The map will have: The entire borough of Algonquin, plus Colony Island All bridges leading out of Algonquin, albeit blocked off Ground type behavior (grass, dirt, wood, cobblestone, metal grates, etc) Original billboard textures (no custom ones) The Liberty City license plate Some easter eggs The map will not have: Night lighting Interiors Subway tunnels Broker, Dukes, Bohan, Alderney, Charge Island, or Happiness Island Accessible underground areas (such as underpasses and tunnels) due to being flooded by BeamNG's water system Perfect collision (expect tire-shreddy curbs and car-absorby fences) Good performance In the future, the map may have: DLC buildings (Tony’s nightclubs, Luis' safehouse, the Angels of Death clubhouse, etc.) The other boroughs as low-detail background objects, as long as they don't severely impact performance AI support (if I can figure out how it works) Animated background objects (planes, etc.) A minimap (all of these are just maybes for now, no promises) Current progress as of 4/14/2021: Credits Me - Porting Rockstar Games - All of the models and textures @thomatoes50 - Extremely helpful advice and information Some other cool people - Alpha testing and bug reporting
imagine if there was a gta 4 intro edit but with beamng cars nice work btw or I should say loading screen
I think you can actually do that. I've seen it on BeamMP-Servers. I believe the loading screen is just a HTML file.
You would think rockstar had something better to do but then again.. this is rockstar. Praying this doesnt get hit with a DMCA or takedown notice.
I know this question may sound stupid, but how do you have the map at semi playable frame rates? I know you said it will not have good performance but I assume with how high poly the models are that you will need to have it run well
I thought this was impossible because of all the assets and stuff, but i am mistaken. Looking forward to this honestly. GTA 4 is the best GTA game IMO and even today it's such a good game to play. The map itself is just awesome. Cannot wait to take pictures on this map.
I wonder if you could post a small test now so people can play with the little bit of it now? --- Post updated --- if you are making a low mesh quality rest of the map can it maybe have collisions?
