Yeah, its really not "that" heavy... not considering what it is. The majority of the mass is in the Frame, Engine, Trans and transfer case, Suspension, and Tires. The actual Body itself is made from lightweight aircraft grade aluminium, the hood is made of fiberglass, and the rest is made of cloth. Remember, these things had to be able to be air lifted into the battle fields. Air lifted vehicles have to be light (relatively speaking anyways)

The Hummers on the other hand... well... they didn't have to meet such requirements.

 

You know you're talking about a... well, interesting sort of vehicle when almost three tons is relatively 'not that heavy.'

As far as I am concerned, I think that all imperial units should be burned.... as an engineer... literally 90% of my job is just me converting all the BS I am given by customers into metric... I do my math... then I have to convert it back for them to understand it.... and half the time they still can't even visualize it so I have to use abstract units almost like references... like "roughly the diameter of a Nickle" or "the length of 3 dollar bills". Its almost comical and yet infuriates me at the same time.

 

It's funny because some people, like y'all, do all your work in metric, but here I am, happily working away with fractions, like "I don't get meters, can I get that in yards?"

For those who don't know: a meter is just over a yard, but practically the same size

 

i only know 1 pound is around half a kilo, a foot .30 of a meter, and an inch is 2 and a half centimeter
also mile is 1.6 kilos
