I have seen this happen more and more recently. Someone makes a remark about the game, and if they don't have a badge they instantly get called out or even insulted for pirating the game, etc. We need to stop this, most of these people just played the demo, watched a video, or simply haven't registered their account, and the community is pretty much driving potentially awesome members away by doing this, and it is giving us a bad name. Hell, I saw a new member post a model he claimed he made, and immediately people started implying he stole it, etc. Just because he was new here. People don't realize exactly what they are saying alot of the time, and if this stuff goes on it could have bad effects on our reputation, and maybe even the devs' reputation. I know this seems a bit petty, or insigniifcant, but it has become very annoying lately to see this "trend" growing bigger and bigger, and I hope people can start noticing this aswell.
If theres no overt evidence of pirating when somebody posts, then i feel it shouldnt be an issue. But if someone doesnt have a badge, and is talking about how the bolide handles on the new map, then I have no problem with people asking about the missing badge. But i do agree, the finger is being pointed far too often lately.
Yes snicker42 <------ I think that was your username I agree. I always thought the finger was pointed to often, especially at Russians. Ilya Higuti with all respect you were, before you came here releasing mods onto Russian Facebook but now you're here and releasing them on the forums no one cares and are quite happy. Probably just me but I find that hilarious
I have to give my 2 cents right here. I registered here before most people did, when BeamNG was more secretive than the NSA. I didn't find it that amusing to be in a forum with low activites, so I havent used my profile for sometime, prior to the tech-demo release, that I tested any got proven that my PC isn't up for the standards of this game. Now, when I came back, in my first post regarding a PC build, where I reccomended not to buy a OS, somebody, that registered much later than me (can't remember nick atm), called me out to be a pirate. Hold on, so you are calling me a pirate after one post, after I came back, simply because my reccomidantion. Not everyone on this forum CAN or WANTS to buy the game. Honestly, I do pirate, on a large scale, but the things I pirate aren't indie titles or small-party games/programs, because their devs require the most income they can have, so they have a honest living income. Look, this calling out of pirates is just plain bullshit, it ruins the community, the same way it's on the RoR forums.
As I said after that: I admit it, because most people won't. Everyone has pirated something, either is it a song, or multi-millions dollars of software. Is it a crime? Hell no. (Personal use isn't restricted) Does that make you make less of a person? No, why would it? If you are a pirate or not, it doesn't change who you are. Do I mind that I havent paid ~500 euros on Microsoft software? No, I don't and I highly doubt that anyone that has pirated it does. If anyone is a pirate, they know the only reason pirating is so popular, is that people don't want to shit out a ton of money for something that they use on a un-regular basis. Have I pirated any indie title including BeamNG? No, I don't want to do that. BeamNG, is how I already said, is not for my PC. And, no, pirates don't pirate everything, if you look at my Steam library (SteamID-dampercookies), you can see that I have legal games too. tl;dr Nobody isn't a pirate. I bet that nearly everyone downloaded a song from YouTube, or from some other site, without paying the author of the song anything. You are pirates too, so don't be a fucking prick next time someone sounds like they have pirated anything, because you also did it.
I'm really glad about all the responses this got. Also, in response to P0RTALized, I do the same. I never pirate indie games, I only pirate AAA titles. Especially games from companies like EA. If they rip off their customers massively, I have all the damn right to rip them off in a very small scale by pirating the game. Also, games from Ubisoft, where the pirated version ends up being better than the paid service because of that crappy Uplay. I would like to emphasize that I bought Red Faction Guerrilla last year, and I literally cannot play the game I paid money for because of the shitware we know as Games For Windows Live, and its broken ass service. Some companies deserve to have their games pirated. Massively. PS: I have nothing against the companies that made RFG, they are all awesome companies, however Microsoft is the devil in the form of shitty customer service.
I have to agree. Seeing people called out for being pirates after one post in a thread is just uncalled for. Usually that is not enough to know for sure if someone is a pirate (of this game) or not. I know this is the internet and respect doesn't usually exist here but we really do need to have respect for each other. Unless of course they are actually a pirate of this game.
I couldnt agree more with you man something has gotta be done about these pirates....hang on what about a logic bomb in the code of the game so if the game is pirated the Logic bomb would activate and make the Pirated games useless....unless you have a verified coded....or what about putting in like Anti-Pirate messages in the game so if stolen they would activate and put up messages and stuff...idk...just ideas I guess.....
do you guys (the community) think its okay for me to pirate GTA IV or buy it? (because I am sort of tight on money) should I save up, or pirate? EDIT: not sure if this is offtopic or not
It is offtopic. If you want to pirate it, go ahead. Legit versions use the bullshit GFW system so I'd rather pirate it.
I only pirate PC games to prove everyone who says PC gamers are pirates and shouldn't have games correct :l That was sarcasm and it hurt..
Re: Regarding "pirates" i think it was game dev story or something like that which would happily run unactivated, but then a few months into the game time your sales would really plummet because customers kept pirating the game and you would always fail at that point as it was physically impossible to maintain profit (they cheated the behind the scenes logic for it ). - - - Updated - - - No idea what you are smoking, what rock you have been hiding under or what propganda your pirate buddies have been giving you, but piracy is a crime, in the UK its even prosecutable in both criminal and civil law courts. In the UK I would draw your attention to section 107(1)(c) of the Copyright, Designs and Patents Act of 1988. In the US it is categorised as intellectual property theft also a criminal offense. No idea about bosnia, but piracy is a digital theft, its no different to walking to a nearby electrical goods store, smashing a window and walking out with the TV. It is theft. Theft is crime. Its plain and simple.
