As per title really, I bought the game a while ago now there has been very little progress. I got my hopes up that there was going to be a significant up date with the lastest count down timer but no, I was left disappointed. Is there a time sale or future progression table for this engine so I dont get excited or get my hopes up for the next update? I understand there is only 4 people working on this engine but the progress is very slowwwww.
There's a cubic shit tonne of new content and improvements in the pre-race update. Plus they've had like 3-4 bug fix updates since then. w0t u goin on about m8
you can say that all you want, it doesn't make it true to the casual user who simply opens the game after an update. the type of people who don't read the patchnotes won't understand that we now have slidesnodes, custom UI apps, revised physics, etc. these are the changes that i would expect a casual user (read: most users) to notice in the update: - new car - a few new car configurations - slightly changed maps - some new UI stuff the rest is great but not game-changing to the regular users. it's perfectly expected that people who don't closely follow the game are disappointed given the timeframe of the update.
The latest update brings so many core changes , which set the base for future updates. Don't worry progress is "speeding up"
I understand your position, since the release of the game its been typically a tech demo, By this time it may be expected that their is at least an actual race against other intelligent A.I. in the game, or some kind of game mode, but the game remains a tech demo. i understand how this can be frustrating especially since we are not used to being on the alpha/beta end of game creation, we are used to those fancy commercials showing a game that will be coming out in 4 months and then 4 months go by and we have the game. game development is typically a slow process, remember Batman Arkham Asylum? Great game but how long did it take for the sequel Batman Arkham City to come out? yep about 2 years, ( Wiki Page: ) 1.1.1 Batman: Arkham Asylum (2009) 1.1.2 Batman: Arkham City (2011) 1.1.3 Batman: Arkham Origins (2013) 1.1.4 Batman: Arkham Knight (2015) Refference wikipidia, Text is available under the Creative Commons Attribution-ShareAlike License; additional terms may apply. (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Batman:_Arkham) As you can see an average of 2 years between releases and that is with a team (100s) of developers, and that's with all the props and engine already optimized, what if they told everyone about Arkham City right after the release of Arkham Asylum? that would be a P.R. disaster, why? because they would have gotten tons of emails telling them how slow they are, instead they waited 5 months from release date to reveal the game. What BeamNG has done is told us about a game in its alpha stage, it can be up to 2 years before a finished product is released, This is a normal process, the updates that we've gotten are hard to see on the surface because it is not actual game content yet, it is game code and reworked physics and UI, perfectly normal stuff for this stage in development
The Pigeon was a disappointment because the front wheel was on an arm for some reason, causing it to flip itself over at a standstill, and it also didn't crash well at all. I saw no FPS improvements. The handling seemed a little better. All cars seemed to be stronger than before, which was bad because they crashed less realistically. The new customizable HUD was cool, as were the new options.
Well the Pigeon is a three wheel car. What do you except? Yes, its on an arm... so?... Thats how they were created and that's it. 25% of the load on the CPU was moved to the GPU. So you need to now have a good CPU and a GPU. The crashing is 500x more realistic than before. I agree with you, the new HUD and UI are really awesome.
it weighs around 600 kilograms, what do you expect from crashing it? compare that to to the ton or so that the other vehicles have. as gabester said somewhere "it's like a fly, easy to kill, but can hardly hurt itself" or something like that.
I am pretty sure they made the core 25% faster, and they didn't move it to the GPU. That isn't how that works. Not even close. GPU handles graphics. CPU handles physics. They haven't added that yet. (the gpu taking some of the physics load.) I may be wrong about this, so I apologize if I am.
I'm not. It seems to run better, the GUI is better, there were a lot of bug fixes, that goofy ass 3 wheeler is fun, at least small island was improved... The game is in alpha. If you want the game to be anything like a full release come back in a year or so. Yea the updates come slow, but what can you expect?
Wouldn't say I'm disappointed, but it the update certainly was as amazing as I'd hope. There's people on here literally fapping to the update, yet to me it seems like a minor update that's just taken ages to come (no pun intended). However, you do have to consider how cheap the game is to buy and how few people are working on it. Problem is that there was a hell of a lot of hype, especially once the countdown started. Had there been less hype and less build-up, people may have not expected as much.
When I first found this thread, I didn't have the race update, hence I thought that it would be great. However I believe that the update is harsh on players with lower end systems. While playing grid map, I lost 7fps from the already unstable 23fps. (After updating). Tbh I would rather downgrade to before the update... Sorry to the devs, I do feel as if I am being cocky posting this.
No. I am exactly with Car Crusher. As much as I love the Race update, this FPS drop is not making me overly happy. My FPS was already bad, it is now even worse...
No it wasnt. The physics core was optimised to require less CPU time. The graphics were upgraded. The 2 are not tied to one another and are 2 independent changes. - - - Updated - - - Something really up with your system, we long ago established that but hey you ignored some of the advice given. Not too impressed with the lie in your ebay listing tbh though.
It's obvious some folks don't follow the BeamNG concept or even remotely care about getting the full story on why this software is not and never will be a mindless one dimensional piece of consumer garbage.
