What are you even talking about? The D-series looks like an 80's truck. And with the newer fascia it looks like an early 90's truck. The reason that the Roamer has a more in-depth facelift is because the Roamer facelift physically changes more parts. The headlight and grille shapes are completely different, and as such almost all of the nearby parts have to be changed. The D-series facelift fascia is the same shape and size as the pre-facelift fascia, so less parts would have to be modified. You're pulling problems out of thin air. "gameplay" as in "career mode gameplay." The wentward, skidplate covet, and pigeon exist to be fun in freemode, and to be the centerpiece of some wacky career mode mission. A slow Autobello wouldn't be fun, it wouldn't be quirky, it would just be miserable. Because the only people who would actually use those bias ply tires care more about history than the average person. BeamNG is steering istelf away from a strict simulator, and making changes that might not be 100% historically accurate as a result. If career mode is ever released, It'll probably be the one main selling point for the game. Your average Joe is more interested in JDM cars, supercars, or generally fun cars rather than the beige, bias-ply adorned cars that everyone on this webside loves for whatever reason. In other words, the names were changed to bring back some historical accuracy without affecting gameplay. The majority of people who will buy this game when if career mode drops do not care about slow, boring cars like the LeGran, Wendover, '96 Pessima, etc. Those cars will most likely be sidelined and serve the purpose of "generic traffic car", and "bait for people who get hot and bothered when they see the color beige." Maybe the V6 LeGran and any possible sport versions of the Wendover will serve as "the first car you buy with your own money" or the "one of three first car choices you get after the opening cutscene"
Early '80s D still looks like an early '80s truck to me but idk i'm not from the YeeHaw country. For the Piccolina, why is having an engine a little too big such a massive problem? To me it's an early econobox that is (roughly) the combination of a Fiat 600 and the Beetle, from an auto company looking to cash in on the '73 oil crisis. The body is a little on the large side, but the engines check out - with the Beetle's smallest being 1.1L. I'm much more bothered by the glaringly obvious USDM bumpers on the seemingly JDM Miramar. Making it either USDM with the driver on the incorrect side, or JDM with needlessly ugly "safety bumpers"? No, it's still 100% a simulator - a physics simulator.
Let me rephrase that- BeamNG is becoming less focused on automotive history and accuracy, and more focused on gameplay, physics, and slowly fleshing out the vehicle roster for when career mode releases 20 years from now
Spoiler: Reference Photos When the face sag D-Series was first shown, the complaints were focused at two things: the doors, and the size of the valence. In the above spoiler I put pics of a 1980's F-Series, C/K, and Dodge D-Series, along with a pre-facelift Gavril D-Series taken out of the dev blog. The real trucks have a valance that is too small to even see head on. Personally I could go either way with this one, as I do like the fact that the valences are interchangeable, even if I can't help but wonder how the truck would look with a valence as small as the real trucks. Then there was the doors. Most of the hubbub at the time was from the lack of contemporary mirrors, which thankfully was resolved by release. However, CaptainZoll ,made a mockup with period correct door handles, quarter windows, and a higher door line which IMO looked so much better than the 1990's doors we currently have (note how those features are on all 3 of the 1985 trucks I posted pics of). Then there's the engine choice issues (For the D-Series as a whole, not just the '85). Compared to the IRL counterparts, a big block V8 is more or less necessary, and a diesel i6 would be good, though not mandatory from an accuracy standpoint. The way I see it, the devs just didn't add a base model Piccolina in game. A lot of people like under powered cars and for some reason the post war Italian compact economy car doesn't have any configs that are actively under powered. It wouldn't take anything away by adding a P90; people who don't care about slow cars wouldn't even notice the addition but it would be a big addition for the casual driver crowd.
That's two things related to the LeGran's rear window (The other) They might just be cleaning things up a bit with her.
Most likely this. It is already known that some parts of the LeGran will be used in the Wendover, so some cleaning up of said parts would be logical.
TL;DR Pre Facelift D series Valence too large, Door line too low, needs older chrome door handles, and needs "Smoker windows".
Taking a clearly 1990s pickup (as design-wise, it's primarily based on the 1988-1999 GM GMT400 platform trucks), changing nothing but the bumpers, mirrors, and fascia (which is rounded enough to fit a 90s model anyway) and calling it a 1985 model is like taking a cantaloupe, painting it green, and calling it a watermelon. To be a true 80s truck, it needs a different body design entirely. Alternatively, they could just revert the years to start in 1988 and make the pre-facelift a base model fleet fascia only. But I highly doubt they'd do either of those things, as they've repeatedly stated accuracy is not their primary goal.
For me i think the D-series Pre-face list needs new taillights, New dash. Chrome hadels and then she will be perfect ( 90% )
#NukeWCUSAraceway2020 #MakeWCUSAFinallyGreat Now in all seriousess, i think it would be great if they moved that track to a different map. The point of WCUSA was to have some proper city driving, and a bit of mountain roads, but that doesnt work at all when almost half of the map is taken up by a racetrack that barely no one uses, so most of those end up being either a single almost straight and depressingly short stretch of road, or not there at all.
Im very temped to just copy and paste the city and get rid of the race track and move it to a new map
