Hi everyone, i am going to build a new PC when the rtx3090 comes out and i wanted to get the best CPU for beamng drive since it's very cpu intensive, my question is what would be the best cpu for around 1k$ just for beamng? What are the most important specs to look for? Is it better to have a higher number of cores or a higher clock? Thank you very much!
AMD THREADRIPPER 64 core nah I’m just joking! It depends. Higher clock for better frame rate, and more cores for multitasking.
Depends on how many vehicles you want to run. If you want to have like 8 at the same time (including yours) then I'd go for something with 8 cores & 16 threads & higher clockspeeds, but if you would want to have a bunch more cars at once, then I'd look for something with more cores, like 24 of them
Ayy we both gettin’ the 3090. Anyways, in terms of Intel, Core i9 10980XE Amd? Threadripper 3950x Or... you could get something a bit cheaper.
What it looks like you are saying is that you're looking for a cpu that costs $1000 USD or under. When you say this, do you mean that you're looking for your WHOLE pc to be worth just under $1000? or just the CPU. If it is the whole pc, then you likely won't have enough money for the RTX 3090 as it's been confirmed by NVIDIA that it will cost upwards of $1400. We'll have to see for sure what all of the cards cost to see what the budget may be. If it is just the CPU, you can invest in any cpu that has a high core count. For me, a Ryzen 9 3900x is perfect when paired with my RTX 2080. For you, if you are actually planning on getting the RTX 3090, I suggest either an AMD Threadripper, or an AMD Ryzen 9 3950x (which is the highest in the lineup) and save the extra 600 on games, VR, other PC hardware (mouse, keyboard, headset, monitor, etc.) And to answer your final question, The number of cores impacts performance more than the clock speeds. A high clock speed, 4 core CPU will only be able to handle so much until your system starts to stutter and freeze. A lower clock speed 12 core CPU can handle much more.
none of those are even the right answer there are some extremely highly detailed vehicles that would make you want to get a super overclocked i99-11190001k, but that won't run as many total lower detailed vehicles as a higher core count AMD chip.
but, it's 2020, and we have manycore CPUs with extremely fast single core performance you're not going to be held back by a 3950x or an adequately cooled threadripper vs whatever intel's highest overclocked 8 or 10 core offering, unless you are looking for maximum possible single threaded performance for vehicles like that crashhard 8x8
