Is there anything i can do about this map constantly freezing my game? Whenever i load the map i can drive around for about a minute and then the game completely freezes and i have to restart my pc, i've tried clearing cache but it didn't work
What an amazing work! Sadly my GTX960 just threw a rod, even with the "light" version. Some parts (like the Ocean Drive road) work flawlessly at 55 FPS while I get almost 9fps in 60% of the map. It's a shame since it runs other games perfectly at the highest settings (GTAV for example). Going back to the last version. I'll use this to take stills btw. I hope one day this game will get optimized enough to play at night. We have full day cycles, yet we don't have a way to light up the dark roads without melting our systems. By the way, you did a fantastic job, almost like a slave job putting all those lights by hand and setting every parameter manually. Thanks for your dedication!
I happens during daytime or nighttime? Night is being proven to be quite the benchmark for most lower, medium, or even medium to high PC's, so it might be the cause, if the light version doesn't make any difference, I'm afraid there is not much I can do for the moment... Thank you! It's really a shame, I knew it was an overkill with that many lights (specially the main release with casting shadows) but I never expected it to be that bad...hopefully a method to improve things up will arise eventually, since this issue will hold people back from playing...
Many people are asking about SA, and as part of my childhood along with GTA III and VC, I would love to see it in BeamNG, but... Not sure if technically possible at all. The amount of work needed would multiply the one for VC several times Night lighting, not even an option here. If a group of people get to work on this, maaaaybe. But alone, is a no-no. Swift helped me a lot with VC but the 'dirty' work was by myself, and I was more than happy to do it but SA alone? Nope, sorry.
Yeah, I can see why. Vice City is a pretty good map size for Beam, maybe even comparable in size to vanilla maps. While i'd love to see San Andreas in Beam one day too, I can't help but think it might look like a literal slideshow, even without all the fancy lights.
So, I've tested light version of the map with i7 7500U/R7 M445 4GB/ 16GB RAM system and lowest settings. I have to say, performance drop is significant, even in light version. My FPS was around 40-60 (capped to 60 btw and it was consistently 60 before) and UI was significantly laggy than before, especially tachometer. Before lighting update, UI was smooth, but not anymore. I don't know what causing this but whenever I try to spawn Ibishu Hopper, my FPS flops to 20. It doesn't happen in other maps and I didn't tested all vehicles yet. I couldn't see any errors in console either.
I really like the map, I get around 50fps on normal settings and in 1440p. I saw only a little bit of z-fighting and texture glitches. I can tell a lot of work has been put into this, and the correct ground model on grass is nice to see. Maybe some more aggressive LOD models and Occlusion Volumes would help. I really like it either way.
I believe there are good news to fix the flooding problem: Just keep up the great work until then I believe I was wrong, rivers with different height levels seem to be possible even before the update, forget it.
I've experienced a few when loading Vice map or trying to spawn a new car. Not only on Vice City map tho, Liberty City map has the same issues. I haven't tested other maps properly, maybe this issue is general. Ah, forgot to mention! Clearing cache and verifying files doesn't help.
Fantastic job porting this for BeamNG.drive! It works beautifully! I wanted to share with you the below video that I created using the map. I tried to capture the essence of GTA: Vice City (at least how I remembered it). Of course this wouldn't have been possible without the work you did on this map (also with thanks to OuDacai for creating the police skins: https://www.beamng.com/resources/fiction-police-livery-pack-虚拟警车涂装包.3114/. I hope you enjoy and keep up the great work!
Stellar work there! Really nice editing and shots, they were on point. Thank you for that great work! BTW, if you want more variety, remember I also include as standard with the mod a VCPD skin for the Grand Marshal
What ever happened with this map I can't find it in the mods list and I can't find any info on it since at least 6 months ago
