The updater uses a type of P2P technology, and you need to leave it open when you're done downloading. That way, the files spread through the network and you speed it up for everyone. Thank you for reading this.

It uses p2p!?!?!? That means I can't update the game, because my internet shuts off for 2 days to a week whenever it detects p2p activity.

Which means your ISP are dicks as p2p is a normal web action. It uses non standard ports so your ISP shouldn't detect it. Your ISP have no reason to disable p2p unless you personally are pirating on it or using excessive bandwidth. For them to cut off for a week, I guess the prior.

My ISP told me the internet cuts off for p2p stuff automatically, because they're internet tower can't handle the p2p stuff, so they programmed their internet to shut off if it detects p2p, then we have to call them and tell them to turn it back on, but they usually take a few days to turn it back on. So far my internet got cut off twice because of war thunder's p2p updater, even after I disabled all p2p settings in the launcher. So I really hope the internet doesn't detect the p2p updater of beamng.drive, because I stopped playing war thunder because of that reason. One of my friends has the same internet as me, and he says he can play warframe without his internet cutting off, and that game also updates with p2p, so I really hope I can update beamng without it cutting off. When I just bought beamng, I used other internet to download and update it, because my p2p hating internet was unstable. But I can't use the other internet all the time for my p2p games, because it is capped at 2GB. My p2p hating internet is uncapped though.

Let me just say that if you have ANY other option or say in the matter, consider switching your ISP. Their line about not being able to handle P2P is either complete bullshit or indicates that their infrastructure is unstable and incapable beyond all reason.
Honestly, what they're doing in that situation should be illegal.

You're 100% right. I think they have crappy equipment, because their internet is very unstable, and they have lots of problems with their tower. Unfortunately I am stuck with them for a year, because we are still paying them for the antenna they installed on our roof until next year. After we payed off the antenna completely, we are gonna switch ISP. They also have very bad service, because they rarely pick up the phone when you try to call them about a problem, and they say all they have to do to turn the internet back on if it gets shut off because of p2p, is type in a password, but they take 2 days to a week to type in that password to punish us for doing p2p stuff. So far it is the worst service and the worst ISP we ever had.

If you are in the US, contact either the BBB or consumer protection, UK you go to trading standards or possibly ofcom (start with the prior and they'll usually direct you to a more suitable agency if you guess wrong).
Oh, internet in the US you can go here: http://www.fcc.gov/complaints

It might seem like a dick more or escalation of a situation, but sometimes pulling a dick move is necessary (and I have heard of people being able to end their contract without having to pay cancellation fees and keeping the hardware via severe complaints through these people)

Yeah, hopefully it comes to steam quickly enough. And hopefully the steam version updates through steam, and not the usual updater. Well until it comes to steam, I'm probably gonna use my mom's internet stick for the updates, as long as the updates are not bigger than a gig or 2, because my mom's stick has a 2 gig cap. Well, I guess I could use my dad's uncapped stick when he comes over to visit, but he doesn't like lending out his stick to me. But he promised me he would lend it to me if I asked, so it's gonna be ok.
