Speed and a dumbass ebrake yank were the main factors in sliding into the ditch, but ABS made it a lot harder to mitigate. Once you go sideways in a car with stability control, you're along for the ride. Works great on pavement, but not so well on dirt.
    Phosphate mining money.

I realize the irony of this post considering recent events, but being without a car has reminded me that I genuinely fear for my life every time I'm in a car driven by any family member... My dad drives an Econoline and leaves literally less than a foot between the van and the car ahead on the expressway, one aunt is all over the place on the road and not exagurating she spends more time looking at the infotainment system and her phone than the road (today she was literally watching youtube on her phone while driving. I don't mean back and forth from the phone and road, I mean full on focused only on the phone and clapping along to the video and driving with her knees and peripheral vision... No, the car does not have self driving...), and my other aunt is a real life Mr Magoo on the road. Nearly get's t-boned at every intersection...

So, I stopped at a used Jeep dealership today. WK's as far as the eye can see (geez I miss mine), a couple beautiful TJ/JK (including a LWB TJ), a virtually undriven XJ Cherokee Limited with heated leather seats and all (asking 13k USD for it), 2 Wagoneers, and much much more.

I just wanted to brag about that mint 2001 Cherokee Limited :p

Changed the oil on the race car today. Oil filter gets oddly tight for no good reason.

Was it a Rubicon model? If so you found my perfect Jeep. I don't know why I like them so much but long wheelbase two doors are the best looking Jeeps IMO.

Yup, in black. Every single Wrangler on that guy's lot was sold except for a 2 door 6 speed JK.

While browsing through my magazine collection I found a ranking of car brands in Poland by their prestige, based on a survey by the Motor magazine.

So, here's what's cool in Poland and what's not.

    2. Mercedes-Benz

    3. BMW

    4. Audi

    5. Jaguar

    6. Lexus

    7. Infiniti

    8. Land Rover

    9. Volvo

    10. Jeep

    11. Mini

    12. Volkswagen

    13. Mazda

    14. Toyota

    15. Subaru

    16. Alfa Romeo

    17. Citroen

    18. Peugeot

    19. Honda

    20. Ford

    21. Skoda

    22. Renault

    23. Opel

    24. Seat

    25. Kia

    26. Hyundai

    27. Mitsubishi

    28. Nissan

    29. Fiat

Because there's not that much prestige in a brand selling slightly fancier versions of Fiats and GM stuff, which generally is seen as something you buy when you can't afford a BMW.

And most premium car registrations are of used car imports, so generally the newest Alfas you'll see on the road in large quantities are 159s and Giuliettas, with the new stuff being expensive and niche.

Informative, but they actually seem really popular from what I can tell. I think I first heard of an Alpha Romeo from Jeremy Clarkson, iirc.

FCA reliability and no particular attachment to the brand.

Alfas aren’t particularly common over here besides the occasional Giulia, it’s mostly the more reliable flashy stuff like Audis and Mercs, so I imagine it’s a fairly similar story over there too.

This past year the Stelvia and Guilia have become common sights for me. Prior to that, Alfa's were extremely rare.
