I know, hence why I said only the LOD textures aren't working :)

A really enjoyable map, and great testing grounds for suspension.

But there seems to be some issues with the GPS routes. The roads definitively seem to be the right shape, but they're slightly offset from your actual position. Here's what my GPS shows me when I am in the same position as the previous picture.

Navigation units in vanilla cars have the exact same issue.

Edit: A few more comments on the current version of the map, after using it loads for developing my mods.

    • I get a pretty big drop of frame rates whenever I am looking in the direction of what I'll call the "cliffs", with the crawling trails and the rock walls. I run all the vanilla maps w/o any frame issues. It's the only map I've tried where I experience similar issues, which is annoying considering how unique and awesome the map for high-speed off-roading.
    • I'm personally not a fan of the balloons and other air props. I don't think they add much to the map, cause shadows that feel weird when you come up to them, and look like tiny dots in the sky 99% of the time. I'd just remove them, might also help a bit with performance.
    • This is fairly subjective, but I'm also not a fan of the trail between the rock walls. Due to all the rocks in the middle of the road, it's mostly driving slowly, waving between the rocks, and hoping one of the smaller rocks doesn't wreck one of your tires. I've been bypassing that area pretty much every time lately since I find it un-fun.
    • I feel like the mountains in the background are maybe a tad too big, especially considering the fact that the map itself is fairly flat.

Interesting. I just tried it and the nav system seemed fine, at least the HUD one, dunno about the in car GPS. Agreed on all other points. Especially the mine trail, I've been saying that from the get go, some of those rocks are just massive, and he made a crawling section, so why are they still there?

I don't know if a recent update broke something, or if I just have a weird graphical setting, but basically all the plants and decorations are just gone.

This map is very gpu intensive, you should probably change some of the enviorment in the backround to be less intensive.

It isn't that intensive, it's just desert. What GPU are you running?

I run a GTX 1660 SC, And grass still destroys my FPS at times.

Are y'all running other applications with BeamNG? Because it runs fine for me with my Nvidia 1050ti.

The only thing that causes fps issues on my gtx 1660 ti (high settings, textures are on normal) are these rocks. Looking towards them from anywhere on the map causes me to drop from 60fps vsync to between 40 and 50 fps depending on how far i am from them.

Well don't run with max grass, thats your problem. I have it on normal settings and grass turned down relatively low. Close outside applications for better performance too.

Anyone else getting a black blend texture between the road and the environment? With the new pre-runner this is the best map available.

His post was on topic to the thread. Regardless just because the red box is there doesn’t mean nobody should post here ever again.

    Blackness fix

    1. Unpack the mod using in-game Unpack feature in Repository > Mods manager (if red alert for duplicate mod arises, delete the_desert_trail.zip in BeamNG.drive/mods folder)
    2. Download the materials.cs below and replace it in BeamNG.drive/mods/unpacked/the_desert_trail/levels/the_desert_trail/art/terrain/
    3. Repack the mod using in-game Pack feature in Repository > Mods manager

    Clear cache and enjoy!

    File moved to .zip below.

Texture fix pack. Same drill as before. Zip contains art folder. Copy it to unpacked/the_desert_trail/levels/the_desert_trail/ and click replace. Before repacking navigate to /art/shapes/groundcover/ and delete materials (2).cs file.

Works also on the Revamp. @Twenty_Two_RE_Owner

-fix pack removed due to repo update-
