A car isn't more reliable just by the virtue of being more simple. Case in point - Toyota Prius.

and also, reliability is "reliability" i.e. it will always start in the morning, not ease/affordability of maintenance.

But just loom at how often Old Carburetted cars needed to be finetuned and repaired so that they would work. Before i would own a Carburettet old car id much rather have a Modernish Diesel because most of them are really rather bulletproof if you do regular services with them

I can defiantly testify to the Prius being very reliable. I don't mean to sound like a Prius fanboy. In fact the cars I do tend to actually "fanboy" over are the complete and total opposite of fuel efficient. Mine was owned originally owned by my grandpa when he bought it new in 2006. Then my dad got it when my grandpa got a new car. A few years latter its been handed to me.
With almost 150k on it the only things that have been replaced are the preventive maintenance stuff (spark plugs, oil, 12v battery, breaks, ect.), the water pump belt (iirc there are only 2 belt powered accessorys are the water pump and A/C pump. The rest are electric), and a muffler (rusted out and made put put noise). The hybrid battery is the only drawback. It's still the original and will need to be replaced sometime this year.

exactly. while a carb would last longer in an apocalypse scenario, practically, even just a proven EFI system is better.

At least for major engine components, BMWs are rediculously overbuilt compared to jeeps. The M30 is famous for going 300k+ miles without a refresh, while jeeps definitely can’t. Everything is high quality. Nowadays they’re equally unreliable because they’re old.

I see your overbuilt German I6 and raise you the 4L pushrod found in older Jeeps. The damn things are literally bulletproof.

No power, but indestructible. Just how I like it.

BMW is currently quite good when it comes to Gaining power for example the M3s Engine can take 700hp without even breaking a sweat. VW does also make easily tunable engines Currently the GTIs engine for example makes 500 HP without doing anything on the Innerts of the Engine the 5 cylinder From the RS3 is also rather good it also will take 700HP without changing alot of stuff on it

On the subject of max power, Duramax V8s and Cummins i6s can take over 700hp just changing the fuel pump/injectors.

Infiniti just got sent out to pasture by Nissan’s restructuring. They will only make rebadged hybrid versions of Nissan models, with no independent platforms. Thus, the Q50, Q60, and Q70 will die, and rebadged Altimas and Maximas will take their place.

I can hardly say I’m not surprised by this in the least. Infiniti was barely relevant, and Nissan just happened to only notice it now.

The Q60 shares platform with Z and Skyline I think.

It uses the Nissan FM platform, so you're right about the latter, as the Infiniti Q50 and Q60 are pretty much USDM Skylines. The FM was used on the older Infiniti G-Series and Nissan Skylines from the early 2000s too. We don't have Skylines over here in the US, of course, I just know this stuff from past research.

The Z-cars, however, use their own platform, the Z platform, and if the Infinitis used it they'd be significantly shorter and would probably be fastbacks as well. Plus I think the Z-cars kinda "own" that platform in a way so Nissan probably wanted it to be exclusive to that model.

Seems like Nissan is starting to go into the "keep the lights on" phase.

And that move is probably going to make three out of around four Infiniti buyers left in 2020 jump ship to Acura.

Aren't they still trying to recover from the Carlos Ghosn situation?
